Game with incredibly frustrating and completely random mechanics which either make or break your game. Ultimately a far worse game development simulator than Game Dev Tycoon, and is abandoned by the developer.

Anything on hard mode and above is essentially impossible to complete without going bankrupt, with little to no explanation for any game mechanic which makes it impossible to complete the game. Feel free to watch any Youtuber playing anything on hard mode and above, and you'll see that for them it was essentially impossible as well.

Another example of a game which instead of having interesting and unique scenarios that make the game difficult, it just makes it impossible to play with the AI being able to completely cheat, and shag your finances without having to worry about their own.

Very in-depth and quite a fun game, unfortunately it is very unstable at the moment and crashes frequently. I'm sure these problems will be fixed with time though.

Updated review:

Game still has huge connection issues, and the official HLL Discord has given absolutely zero help, not even from any developers. The game is great if you can ever get it to work, but the troubleshooting for this game is so insane and the game is horribly optimized, so good luck running it.

Early Access Review
Can't recommend it, not even in early access.

The game has so many bugs that completely ruin the game, and completely block you off from 80% of the game. It's incredibly repetitive, and once you get good enough, you never miss a single goal which is unrealistic. There should be more scenarios where it's up to chance, and not your own skill. It's kinda stupid that I'm able to score 4 goals playing for a Serie B team, while playing against Juventus or something lol

Early Access Review
Let me start this review off by saying that I'm a huge fan of the original "A Legionary's Life", and I was incredibly excited for this second game, but at the current moment I'm unable to recommend the game.

The vibe of the game is very similar, and I'm definitely still enjoying playing it, but there's so many lacking features or ideas that just don't feel very well thought out. The formation fighting is semi-interesting, but 1-on-1 combat is unbelievably boring compared to the first game.

In the first game, when your character died or you finished his story, you'd get points that you were able to spend on your next character, which is a feature I miss dearly in this game - and by leaving it out of the game, the replayability of this game compared to the first one completely tanks. You're not really able to take any new decisions, because you'll either have to train only one specific thing, and be forced to play with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ character that only knows how to do one single thing if there's a specific decision you want to take, and that completley ruins the progression system in the game for me.

The training of your troops is a pretty interesting new idea, and I actually quite like it, but not being able to directly train some of the skills is really annoying, when I have great stats in all of the physical attributes and then my endurance for some reason sucks.

The formation fighting system is also a bit complicated, but I find it somewhat enjoyable once you actually learn how to play it, and countering what the enemy formation is doing so that's a bonus to an extent.

Basically the entire character creation system was far better in the first game, and it falls very flat in this new game, and it's pretty sad, because the replayability was one of the reasons why the last game was so much fun, as there was always something to do - and the RNG actually meant something for your character, rather than just being annoying.

------------------------------------------------------

TL;DR

So in the current state of the game, and considering the price and quality of the last game; I really cannot recommend this game at the moment. I really hope he continues to work on it, and implements some of the features we all loved from the last game. The replayability, better RNG, more in-depth decisions (and also please add a skip text button, it's annoying to have to manually skip everytime I have a new character).

Large price for barely any content.
The game is mostly just do thing A, do thing B, do thing C, repeat.

If it was 5€ it might've been worth it, but I honestly think that the huge lack of content, and mechanics that the price is nowhere near justified.
