Game is great, don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. People who genuinely think the game isn't fun, isn't well made, or doesn't have promise, don't actually play games. Period.

First off, there is zero chance there isn't either full on cheaters, or crazy aim assist from controller. I've played against literal pro players who aren't as skilled and consistent as some random at 3:30 AM.

Second, here is a list of changes that should be made:
  1. LOWER THE TIME TO KILL IT IS EASILY THE BIGGEST ISSUE RIGHT NOW BESIDES RANDOM PLAYERS HAVE THE BEST GAMES OF THEIR LIVES THE WHOLE MATCH WITH NO MISTAKES
  2. Fix the performance. it does not have to be, and cannot possibly be done at all at once, but noticeable performance uplift across all brands of GPU and CPU every other patch or so, with improvements to specific parts like Intel GPUs for example, will show good faith.
  3. Servers. I'm getting shot around corners with 10k players on.
  4. Unique perks/upgrades for each character, possibly paths or trees? Every so often, or for every X amount of kills, or randomly out of chests, or from successful events like obtaining the breaker, blowing up a site, and specifically from chests, you can get randomly CHEST ONLY upgrades which will cause more fighting around chests throughout the game. The amount of things that grant points, and how many points those events grant, will be determined by the type of upgrade/perk system used (multiple points per node to unlock next node(s) for example).
  5. Revamp reinforcements. There needs to be more materials that can be farmed and used, thus going a Rust route, or just add purchasing of better reinforcements with the ore that is already in the game. Maybe take a step further than Rust and add in elements that, for example, can be used to make certain characters less viable for that match. If there was more incentive to gather ore, or more materials to gather, each team would probably have a dedicated gatherer that might play scouting/stealthy characters.
  6. A revamp of some of the character's spells, or new characters that fill the gaps that are needed in gameplay. One of the biggest gaps is there not being a level of reinforcements that can only be destroyed by a certain character (if the elements route isn't taken. also don't say this would be boring and make it so this character would need to be picked every match, does every round of siege have a hard breacher?) and likely add more characters that can destroy higher level enforcements, just in their own unique ways. Also, an example of a character that needs to be reworked right now, two actually, is wolf man and bird lady. They are next to useless, and wolf guy has a bigger hitbox as well. Though hitbox sizes are a fantastic tool for balancing, so I hope they experiment with that.
  7. Minimum one more game mode that adds minimum 2 more teams. I don't think the maps are too big for 3v3, as battles happen all throughout the map, and not even for objectives that spawn, but the maps are big enough for 2 more bases that form a square or rhombus shape.

And now, here are things they should NOT do:
  • SBMM/EOMM. Most people don't even know what this is, even if they have heard of it before, and have watched videos on it, but actual matchmaking manipulation, not whatever those CoD creators talk about, is disgusting, and has no place in any game. Anyone who actually wants to PLAY a game and not just boot it up their digital PS5 on their TLC TV that is cranked to 200% volume while so graciously being on the non-default setting of open mic that is echoing all game audio and go AFK seemingly at random until you realize they actually walked 10 feet from their living room couch to their kitchen to stand at the counter and eat chips, will instantly quit playing if their gameplay is being manipulated in ANY way, and especially before they even get into a match. They have a ranked mode on the way for a reason. And to anyone who's going to say to get better at the game, SBMM/EOMM actively makes you worse and only exists for companies to make you want to play a game more and then punish you for doing so, when the game never deserved your time in the first place.
  • Butcher the current maps and reconstruct them into smaller maps to appease people who can't use their ears to find a fight. If they really want to do smaller maps, make them another game mode.
  • Listen to anything besides the most surface level feedback from people with less than 10 - 20 hours played. "MY FPS IS SO LOW FIX IT AAAAA" okay, sure, figure that out, but under no circumstances should the devs listen to gameplay or balanced opinions/ideas from people who won't even play the game to form real thoughts. No pros from other games with less hours than loopback Larry. No content creators who will make 200 hours of content of which 190 will be non-constructive negativity lazily and the remaining 10 hours will be uploaded randomly 2 months later after their 10th SteamDB prowl for random games they don't care about to jump on for views of the day at 11 AM and they see this game is thriving so they have to shove something out quick while they desperately free up space to reinstall the game because all of their previous "content" was slopped together by recycling 2 hours of footage from their total 2 hours 21 seconds of gameplay. Listen to the correct people.

It's Deathrun but a standalone, well made version where you play as jelly beans in a kid's colouring book. Get your friends to buy it with you and you'll have a party game that will be played for years to come given another developer doesn't come along and make a better game.

Be ready to take this game seriously 24-48 hours into playing it and along with that be ready to get mad as hell too.

Early Access Review
I've never played a worse game.

Curious what's in 2nd place for the worst games I've ever played? It's Dead by Daylight, Behaviour's non-shooter and slightly better version of this game.

The game is very buggy, clunky and in general just isn't in a finished state. I wonder if they know that there's a 13th on a Friday in October of all months this year. Why couldn't they of worked on the game more up to then? Not only would the game be in a better state at launch, the release date would be perfect. What a shame.
  • The intro to the main menu is ear piercingly loud and cannot be skipped. When I say it can't be skipped I mean it can be but at what time it can be skipped is very literally random. Sometimes I can't skip it till the IllFonic part and sometimes I can skip it at the Gun. part.

  • They didn't even record new match start and match end videos for the NES skin. How much time would that of took, really? The videos look like they were filmed in a match with a spectator camera. If you don't believe me just look at the Packanack intro, Eric is already in the final fear state while the dude that gets killed is walking to the camp fire.

  • The game crashes.

  • Jason can grab survivors from feet away at 90 degree angle and instantaneously kill them. I wish I was kidding.

  • The matchmaking often puts you in a game with people that have almost if not more than 100 ping difference. This really doesn't help with Jason's grab range or how much fun you're gonna have as survivor.

  • Survivors can find pocket knives around the map and use them to automatically get out of Jason's grasp. This is fair because finding them is just luck and if you're lucky enough to find one then you have a get out of jail free card. Only problem is is that you can have multiple of them at a time giving you up to 3 get ouf jail free cards. Not only is this incredibly annoying for Jason but it puts other survivors at a disadvantage because one person is hording two or three pocket knives. The max any one survivor should be able to have at any given time is one.

  • Jason has bear traps that he can place directly infront of him without fail as long as he's trying to place them outside. They can't be disarmed without using a pocket knife, an item that is necessary to have to get out Jason's grab because he can kill you right after the grab animation ends if he so chooses so wiggling out isn't an option or by simply walking on them which, of course, gets you momentarily stuck as you spam E to get out. The hitbox is also pretty big and they are covered in leaves.

  • The survivors also have traps but they are impossible to setup and the hitbox is tiny so Jason can just walk around them if they're put in the middle of a doorway for instance. Also they are not covered in leaves.

  • There are a lot of enviromental kills scattered around each map but they are either out in the middle of nowhere or you just barely couldn't get to one in time. Survivors can wiggle out of Jason's grasp very easily and quickly which makes doing enviromentals (not doing enviromentals is largely frowned upon due to the fact jason can immediately kill survivors once he grabs them) near impossible.

  • Jason can move around like a ghost and appear infront of survivors and grab them without them having a chance to fight back. There are indicators of where he is moving to and when he enters and leaves this ability but they aren't helpful 100% of the time (if they even work at all).

  • The aforementioned ghost ability doesn't seem accurate.

  • There are a few spots where a survivor can endlessly run around a long dining table in a cabin and stay on the opposite side of the table from Jason. The only way Jason is able to catch them is if he uses his ghost ability which, again, isn't accurate but this time I feel the need to mention the fact that on top of it not being accurate the very bad performance of the game even on all low makes manuevuring indoors whilst in ghost mode very difficult as it makes you move super fast.
This also happens around any fence or roadside barrier but at least Jason can break the smaller fences I guess. If it's the one infront of the Barn on Higgin's then good luck.

  • As mentioned before the game doesn't run well, even with all settings at low.

  • You can accidnetally kill another survivor if you shoot Jason in the back with the shotgun while he's holding a survivor. Killing another survivor makes you lose 1000 XP that match which is basically the max amount of XP you could hope to get as a survivor in one match without double XP or more XP perks.

  • Survivors can hit Jason with a baseball bat and make him drop the survivor he just grabbed before the grabbing animation even finishes and he has a chance to kill them.

  • Due to the aforementioned batting of Jason while his grab animation is playing making him drop the survivor he grabbed, if the survivors group up Jason has basically 0 chance to kill anyone.

  • Jason can stop a car simply by standing infront of it. Walk infront of car, break it, stand idle infront of car while survivors restart it and instantly break it again right as it starts. Jason can also break the car by touching the back bumper because why not.

  • The repair minigame is more random than skill.

  • There's a survivor with 9/10 speed and a survivor with 10/10 speed and they can create some serious distance just by jogging and when they run they leave Jason in the dust. He can only catch up with his ghost ability which, as mentioned before, isn't accurate.

  • Jason has a teleport ability. You bring up a map and choose a spot to teleport to and you teleport there. Thing is the map isn't accurate and any little bit of accuracy that the map does have is removed by the fact that some spots of the maps have pre-determined teleport locations. As an example; think of a circle that when you choose to teleport inside of it puts you to certain spot inside of itself every single time no matter where inside of it you choose to teleport to.

  • When Jason left clicks he swings his weapon. If his weapon hits a survivor they stop moving and go through an animation for a second. By the time the animation ends Jason is already able to swing his weapon and hit the survivor again. So if Jason walks up to a survivor and spams his left mouse button he locks them in place and they can't do anything but die.

  • Survivors can take aim and fire with the shotgun and flare before any animation is shown to Jason. On his screen the survivor instantly looks at him and fires within miliseconds.

  • Jason has an ability that highlights any fearful survivors in red. If they are in a building it highlights the whole building until he enters it. This sounds fair until you find out that being fearful is as easy as accidentally coming across a dead body.

  • Some survivor perks literally don't even work or are buggy. For instance I have a perk that is supposed to spawn me with a walkie talkie and big surprise it doesn't. The same thing happens with a perk that is supposed to spawn you with a medical spray. You choose the perk and you don't spawn with what you were promised. The only spawn bonus perk that I've seen work is the one that spawns you with a map. Another perk I have is supposed to make climbing through windows faster. At first it seems like it does but in reality it only speeds up the animation. After you finished the animation of climbing through the window faster than your normally would you're stuck in place on the other side until the regular speed animation would finish thus making the perk absolutely pointless. I assume this is the case because I can only move after the sound of feet hitting the ground play. Yes, the sound that plays when the survivor's feet hit he ground after climbing through the window isn't synced up with the faster animation. This makes me think they didn't make the perk do anything more then speed up the animation to make it seem like you are getting some kind of bonus.
Reached character limit :/

Deceit in it's current state is sorta buggy, doesn't run as well as expected, crashes a lot for some people and lacks heavy variety in weapons but if you get past the occasional bugs, crashes and realize the game isn't about the gunplay you'll realize the game is pretty fun.... when everyone joins in.

The game isn't about good aim or fast reactions like most FPS games but about deception, watching how others act, your gut and sometimes blind trust. Every match is on the back of the 6 players, each match is what you and the people you are playing with make of it. Matches where no one talks and player interaction just in general is MIA are very boring and nothing ever happens. You feel like you're just waiting for the match to conclude throughout the entirety of it. But a match with energetic people who are ready to talk? It's like you're playing a whole different game! Lies, confessions, confusion, mis-placed trust, discrations, betrayal oh my!

Voice chat is everything in this game, if you have a mic you better use it or you're only putting a damper on the match for everyone including yourself. Rather you buy this game or win it in a giveaway be ready to interact, lie and get turned on by the pack and elminated after downing someone that shot at you first.

This is a very early review with nothing more than a couple of thoughts. I have more thoughts and more to say about the game especially when it comes to gameplay and balance but I want to play the game more and garner a better understanding of it before I comment heavily on those subjects.

Coming up on half a year since the game's release and it's looking like it's going to be another waste of potential. Only time will tell but as it stands.... they're adding new content when having a controller plugged in still crashes the game.

2016 Steam Awards Edit: I nominate Dead by Daylight for "Better Infinites than CoD Zombies".

2020 Steam Awards Edit: To this day the game still isn't perfect which is mostly fine because no game is but DbD's biggest issues of today are the same issues it's had since release. Survivors are still very overpowered because of overloaded perks, especially against weaker Killers (the weaker characters, not players), and the stronger/meta Killers are broken themselves and aren't fun to play against as Survivor not to mention that Killers do have SOME perks of their own that are too strong (just not nearly as many or the extent of meta Survivor perks).

Does that make it a bad game though? No, not really. It just makes it a really good game with big flaws BUT the flaws are only really apparent when playing at higher levels or getting bad teammates as a solo Survivor. Beyond those specific cases though? The game is great to play on your on as Killer or Survivor and as a bonus it's an incredible party game.

With it's great gameplay, plentiful updates and upcoming total visual revamp you and your friends will enjoy this game for hundreds, thousands of hours. Just don't take it too seriously when you get good.

When Bloodseeker pressed a button on his keyboard to cast a spell on me from the fog of war and I proceeded to go from full to dead over a matter of 10 seconds from pure damage I really felt as though I had been greatly outplayed and that I'm simply not hardly as good as him and need to improve a significant amount before I can even dream of being anywhere near his level.

If you're looking a highly competitive skill-based MOBA where each action requires intense, extensive thought and planning then this game is for you.
