I backed this game on Kickstarter and i've watched it grow from nothing, through a trainwreck of a release, and finally to a stage where I feel like this game is becoming the game it was supposed to be all along. If you played Dungeon Keeper growing up (like I did) you'll probably love this game, but even if you didn't... give the game a shot anyway. As a first project for a newly founded indie studio they have created something amazing, but let's get expectations clear... they are still a brand new indie studio, the game isn't perfect and it's not some big budget triple A title but after the last major milestone patch, and with the improvements coming in Patch 2.0 this game is worth your time (just make sure your PC can run it properly first!).

And although this is a review of the game, I have to give a shout out to Brightrock themselves, the devs are simply some of the best guys around and they genuinely care about this game. It's clearly a labour of love for them and you can see signs of that all across the game itself, in how they respond to and interact with the community and the tireless continued support the game has received since that unfortunate 1.0 release.

Early Access Review
Recieved a closed beta key a while ago and i've been around long enough to see the game start to take shape. It's not all the way there yet, there are still errors and the balance can be a little wonky sometimes but even with those issues it's already a whole lot of fun, and the co-op mode offers something that I personally haven't seen in any other DCCGs.

The devs are great, they listen to feedback and get involved with the community and they do it all with the same sense of humour that is injected into the game itself in large fable size doses.

So yeah I'd definitely recommend it, but to any potential buyers i'd say just make sure you know what you're buying into. The game will be free eventually so unless you're ready to jump in right now, and are willing to put up with a few bugs and balance issues and genuinely want to help the game move forward, you might be better waiting until it releases and you can get it for free.

A DLC which adds a whole new game mode, a bunch of new variants of creatures (which can also be used in the in-game editor) all for free, what's not to like?

A little cutie for the price of 39p (during halloween sale), and kickstarter backers got him for free as well!
Can't really ask for more than that can you? :D
