Definitely worth a try. The fact that this is solo developed is pretty insane. Did encounter a game-breaking glitch (fell thru the floor, had to forfeit about 20 seconds after getting in) but I laughed and said "well, it is a demo". Queued up another run, no glitches, had a blast.

You are living in a peaceful village of sentient hovercrafts, when corrupted evil hovercraft come out of the sea and attack your village. Save your friends. Pretty clearly inspired by Zelda and Metroidvanias, spiced up with twin-stick arcade shooting bullet hell gameplay.

Fantasy Anime Stardew Valley.

Some might argue that this game is a bit too much like Stardew Valley. I see where they're coming from. This game is VERY similar to Stardew in a lot of ways, but it's also different in a lot of ways that I'm really coming to enjoy. I am finding it to be a slower progression than Stardew, which is nice IMO. Part of that is because a lot of the prices for things in this game are a lot higher in proportion to your income than they are in Stardew.

I'm going to go a bit in-depth, so read at your own risk from here on. I'm going to describe the difference between this game and Stardew, which has been a lot of the fun for me. I do not want to spoil that fun for you, but I want everyone to see that this isn't necessarily a "rip-off" of Stardew Valley.

First off - the Mines are MUCH more difficult in this game. In the first season or so, I had a lot of trouble even getting to the checkpoints, because good restorative food doesn't become available that quickly (thank you Stardew mushrooms!). In Stardew, I had a much easier time blowing through it. And while we're on it, the combat that is available (hoping they add more options) feels a lot more fun than Stardew.

In Fields of Mistria, I'm finding that farming itself isn't all that profitable (like it is in Stardew). The seeds cost nearly as much as the produce gets you back. This is made up for in a LOT of ways - Fishing, Mining (and in turn, Blacksmithing), and Cooking seem to be where the cash is. Refined products are still one of the bests way to make money, but now they're really the money-makers.

Say goodbye to upgrading your old gear, you get brand new gear each time you upgrade in the Fields. This means money back in your pocket when you sell the old stuff, as well as being able to produce equipment that you can sell for a pretty penny too! Ore isn't just a way to upgrade your farm now, it's a way to fund the farm and your other prospects!

Cooking is seemingly the step-up from just Farming in terms of raw usefulness and money-making. It's the real "farmer's way".

Fishing is quick, easy money and it helps you fill up the Museum and contributes to some Cooking recipes.

So far, the game has only crashed once (ominously, right as the clock struck midnight).

5e players, listen up! This is a very well-done recreation of the 5e system in a virtual setting. However, since it is virtual, there are more limitations. You will notice certain spells missing (Dispel Magic), a butt load of jumping, and interesting uses of spells as "de facto" reaction spells (such as guidance).

Overall, the story is great, the gameplay is exactly what I wanted, and the faults are few and far between. In my ~130 hours of gameplay, I have encountered one bug that did not change the outcome of any events, so I was able to continue playing.

9/10. It will be 10/10 if they add a Dungeon Master's toolkit so people can make their own campaigns.
