There is no middle ground, so I'll give this a thumbs down but in reality I sit in the middle with this one.

I like Mewgenics. There is a great game in there, and I've enjoyed my time with it.

But in its current state, I have issues that got in the way of my enjoyment far too often:

* Upgrades are locked behind far too much grinding.
* The fact that runs are long by roguelike standards doesn't help (between 1h and 2h). It makes it difficult to do runs back-to-back.
* The RNG is king, and there is very little room to overcome it with skill alone.
* The game also needs QoL improvements wrt to combat and breeding.

One those games I wish I could experiment for the first time again.

Needs a bit of time to get used to the climbing system and the physics of climbing. But once I got the hang of it, I found it super satisfying.

I saw criticism regarding Aava. For me her character worked well enough and in some ways I was able to relate.

Few bugs here and there but nothing game breaking.

One of the best puzzle game out there. Stylish presentation and some very clever puzzle design.

I strongly recommend taking notes along the way (I used about 35 pages in my notebook for this game alone).

Fun game with a decent story. Plays more like a puzzle than a stealth tactic game. In the majority of situations there is only one correct way to progress forward and what needs to be done is pretty obvious. Still I found it satisfying to play through.

I'd recommend this but solely for the first investigation (about 7h-8h of playtime for me).

I gave up on the second investigation ( Roottreemania ) as I found it less fun. The difficulty is bumped up by some of the design choices.

Retour en arrière bien négocié. Les fondations sont solides. On prend beaucoup de plaisir.

Toutefois, on a un problème de variétés dans les cartes. Les "grandes" cartes sont plutôt petites (à l'échelle d'un BF) et elles sont désignées de façon à ce que le joueur se retrouve constamment dans l'action. Ça donne des parties plutôt chaotiques. C'est pas forcément un mal. Mais quelques cartes avec plus de temps de morts apporterait de la fraîcheur entre deux parties.

I really like the settings, idea and concept.

But I ended up being frustrated with the “timer mechanic”. For those that didn't play the game : there is essentially a timer running during each chapter, and if you fail to complete the objectives by the end, it's game over.
The balance between how things costs and how much resources the player collects is also rather harsh in my opinion, which adds to the frustration.

The game is also very much on a rail and there is less freedom than I expected.

I get that the goal is to create a sense of "always being on the brink", but it didn't really work for me.

A puzzle game disguised as a roguelite. Really cool and full of surprises. Prepare yourself to take notes, you'll need them.

Be aware that a specific puzzle use quite uncommon english words. As a non-native speaker, I had to resort to the internet once or twice.

I have one issue with the RNG (inherent to the roguelite genre) that sometimes get in way and can make the experience a bit frustrating.

Feels like playing through one of the 1980's movie.
