Not a really big fan of Roguelike/Roguelite games, but this game is worth every penny. I was dozens of runs and multiple completions through the game before I ran a complete run without a single major story development or unique line of dialog present.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

My first VR game, and one I highly recommend for just getting into the swing of VR combat in general. The 'open the door, open the trunk' mechanics early on become second nature very quickly. It was a great feeling to be able to lean over a railing and shoot zombies below me that I couldn't otherwise see, and more than a few times I just stuck my SMG around the corner or out a cracked door, and wasted the zombies that were waiting for me there. For entry level VR folks, this immersion is AWESOME to experience.

Gun combat feels very rewarding when you take the time to line up a headshot and get it, and each gun gives a different look and feel; I always prefer the Glock over the other pistols because of its particular iron sight, and the Shotgun is my trusty second weapon despite the limited ammo. The beginner-mode friendly reloading mechanism is a good partial-immersion gimmic to get you used to physical actions for reloading weapons. My only gripe here is that you can have two guns on your belt, and two in your hands, but only the weapons on your belt will carry over into the next level; if your belt is full and you have a weapon at the end of the level, it disappears. Given the scarcity of certain weapons, it's silly to remove these like this. If I want to go through the effort of carrying four guns, let me.

The zombie horde rush events during the campaign are clever and more than a few times I replayed them to see if I could do better or conserve ammo by doing things differently. Some of them have clear 'safe' areas where it just becomes a wall of zombies coming for you from a specific direction, while others force you to be out in the open and things come at you from all sides. My only complaint for them is that some of the events have a set quantity of zombies, while others have zombies that keep coming until you escape or complete an objective, and it isn't always clear which is which. Many of these are simply not explained, you just have to figure it out.

Horde Mode, which is basically just wave after wave of zombies coming at you from all sides is a must-try. My first time through, I barely made it 3 rounds before getting mowed down and was baffled at what to do better, but now it's at least round 10-12 before anything so much as hits me once. It can get a bit frantic, but it's fun as hell, and careful planning and weapon placement can go a long way to helping you survive longer. I haven't done multiplayer for it, but I can see how awesome that would be.

A must-play VR game.

Pros:
+ Entry level VR movement concepts; specifically arc teleports, also known as point-to-move.
+ Weapon physics are fairly generous; SMG-type weapons will just shred things point blank, unlike some other games.
+ Reloading is made super simple via a generous 'ammo belt' concept; simply eject the clip and touch your chest to reload. Great for entry level players struggling with VR immersion.
+ Horde mode is fantastic.

Cons:
- Harder difficulties just reduce the available ammo count to make the game harder. Would have been better to see more damage-resistant zombies, or make it so that headshots always kill but other shots take twice as much.
- Movement can be finicky in tight quarters. You frequently can't move around objects such as chairs without multiple separate attempts.
- Hand detection is just frustrating enough to be noticed. You frequently open a door all the way and it instantly slams shut when you let go. God help you when you try to throw a grenade.
- Levels can be VERY long, and while they have respawn checkpoints, they do not allow you to save and quit without losing all progress.

My profile says 77 hours, but it felt like hundreds and hundreds. Definitely an improvement over the first game, and worth the time if you've got some good friends to kill and be killed by.
