VVVVVV is one of my absolute favorite platformers of all time. The flipping mechanic may seem like a gimmick at first blush, but the level design is so good that, and the mechanics are introduced so well that it is as solid and natural feeling part of the experience as jumping in any other platformer.

It's super hard, but it's all perfectly doable without being a platforming god and it's incredibly satisfying to overcome the toughest bits. Plus, most of the hardest stuff is optional, so you can beat the game while saving yourself a bit of unnecessary frustration, and after that you can go back for anything you missed.

The graphics are retro without retreading the same NES stuff we've seen from so many other indie platformers. Everything is very simple looking, but still manages to have a good visual variety for the different environments.

If I really wanted to I could go on about why I love this game, but I think you know if you're interested in a game like this by now, and if you're interested I think you'll really like it.

It looks great, it plays great, the soundtrack is spectacular, and it will never cost you more than $5. Go get it.
