No, it's awesome that the co-op doesn't work at all. I actually really like it that if you try to start a co-op match you will just see a screen looking for a match for three minutes and then an error message. That's awesome to me.

The Stanley Parable is a well-crafted, glorious little game. At this point, hearing the voice of that familiar narrator is like a warm, comforting old pillow that has sat waiting for me on my bed for years. I know that sweet thing will guide me. And I will do as he wishes. Or not.

I've always loved the way games play with their own mechanics to create shockingly funny moments. The unexpected knowing tasks in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the goofy dialogue at choice moments of various Final Fantasies, the whole thing going on in the Portal games. And The Stanley Parable is that in unadulterated, pure form.

Everything is about how you twist or defy the game, and it's marvellous. There's a great tactility to the gameplay, something real and delicious about button presses and such, and an incredible attention to detail that expands into things like the Steam achievements, and of course now, the meta-commentary of the sequel.

Please give me my glorious achievement for not playing the game for five years. Love you.

Unfathomably good. A spooky, vast, politically engaged, goofy doomsday story with an impeccable cast of characters and the best of JRPG mechanics (glonking your materia into your weapons feels good and right). Also, I love the graphics in their own right, both for being an incredible moment in tech progress at the time, and for being really inventive expressions of the world (pre-rendered backgrounds 4eva). Is Sephiroth the racially pure Great Inheritor of the world? Well... no :)
