fun enough game but holy ♥♥♥♥ ubisoft launcher sucks so bad

I'm a long time fan of the skate series. Growing up, I always admired the care and thought put into the game and how it genuinely feels like you are interacting with skateboarding culture. As someone who has been skating for a long time, I find this game a truly repulsive display of what capitalism thinks we (referring to both skaters and players) want.

I was a playtester of this game and I fail to see any major improvements from the initial playtest that I was a part of. The game is still incredibly buggy (worth noting that the in-game store has no issues at all! Seems like EA can do something right!) and the dialogue is awful. I never came to these games expecting a story that surpasses The Odyssey or anything but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it is terrible. The characters in this game say some of the corniest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I have ever heard or read in a piece of media ever.

I try not to look at Skate 2 and 3 through a nostalgic lens and try to take this game as a new thing because clearly that is what the developers want for this game. I can respect that. I admire the developers for genuinely trying something new and I personally don't care that much about the "fortnite-esque" art style that so many other people seem to be complaining about. I can get past it. Whatever. The gameplay is still fun and that's really all that I care about when I'm looking at a new game and deciding whether or not its good enough.

Unfortunately, that's all that I can say about this game. Its "good enough." That is the issue with so many games coming out nowadays. This game is just another example of rebooted failure that fails to hit one of the major things that people admire about the original. The earlier games in this franchise felt like they were actually trying to say something and understand their audience. Skateboarding is not the capitalist product that this game makes it out to be. This game just feels like a product that is made to make as much money as they possibly can. I'm going to continue to play the game because as I said earlier, it is good enough and its fine enough to pass the time. I refuse to support this product by spending money on it until they actually start listening to their players. Or give me the option to turn those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ voices off. Jesus Christ.

good game, fun gameplay. i wish they kept more maps from the original game though
