30 Hours In—And I Already Hit Reset

Let’s be clear: I don’t hand out my time lightly. So when I spend 30 hours on a game and willingly hit restart to run it back smarter? That’s not just a vibe—it’s validation. After wrapping the main mission, I realized I was only just beginning to understand how deep this world goes.

I came looking for a Subnautica substitute. What I found? A contender that might just pass it.

🧬The Good: Discovery-Driven, Player-Led

This game respects your intelligence. It hands you a wrench, a map, and a mystery—then steps back. That’s tech freedom.

Graphics & Mechanics: Solid bones. A few rough edges, but no structural cracks.
World Design: Sparse on hand-holding, rich in possibility. If you like uncovering systems rather than being spoon-fed? You’re home.
Narrative Thread: It’s there if you look. Like old code—subtle, efficient, and meaningful.

💥The Bad: Physics Gremlins & Minor Crashes

This thing runs smooth—until it hits turbulence.

The boat occasionally does wild things: spontaneous air launches, awkward sinking, getting stuck on what looks like wet cardboard.

It’s rare, but jarring. Resetting or clearing junk usually handles it.
In 30 hours, I’ve had a few crashes. Nothing catastrophic. Auto-save every 5 minutes and you’re good.

More content—vehicles, deeper memory lore, alternate traversal options—is coming soon. Patience pays. like No Mans Sky this will be a hit..

🧱 The Ugly: Performance Hiccups

Optimization still needs love. Depending on your setup, you might see stutters, rendering gaps, or moments that feel unpolished. But that’s baked into the early access contract—buying into vision, not just execution.

📊 Gameplay Loop: Grind or Groove?

You’re gonna do a lot of the same:
Sail → Scrap → Fight → Power Up → Repeat.

Sounds repetitive? It is. But if your brain clicks with systems and survival loops, it’s addictive. For me, it’s that good kind of grind—clean, focused, satisfying.

⚖️ Verdict: Know What You’re Signing Up For

This isn’t a “sit back and be dazzled” experience—it’s a “lean in and figure it out” kind of game.

If you:
✅ Like exploration for exploration’s sake
✅ Enjoy surviving, building, and tinkering
✅ Don’t mind a few bugs in service of a bigger vision

…then this game delivers.

But if you:
❌ Only play for story
❌ Want everything polished out the gate
❌ Hate repetition

…it might feel overpriced for your taste.

30 hours in, and I’m still just getting started. That’s the mark of something special—unfinished, but unforgettable.

If you want a movie with a predictable storyline, Mafia: The Old Country is it—but if you’re chasing that classic Mafia vibe, this isn’t it. Save your money and wait for a sale: it’s basically an interactive movie with no real choices to change the outcome. Finish the story and it falls flat—no replay value like the earlier games.

Avowed – A Dream for RPG Fans (With One Sad Miss)

Avowed starts off slow, but once you get going, it’s like a dream come true for an RPG fan. It reminds me of EverQuest and Meridian 59, but with modern upgrades that make the experience feel fresh.

I’m playing as a Scholar Wizard, and for the first time in any RPG, my NPC tanks actually tank properly. The AI is so well-designed that it feels like I’m playing with human teammates—minus the drama and stress.

The story is decent, but let’s be real—I’m here for the gameplay. I tried using a controller at first, but it just didn’t feel right. Switched to mouse and keyboard, and that’s where it hit its sweet spot.

One thing I absolutely love is how you can freeze water and use puddles to conduct electricity—the environmental interactions are incredibly well done and add a whole new layer of strategy to combat.

Running on a water-cooled, overclocked RTX 4090 with everything maxed out, the visuals are absolutely spectacular.

That said, it’s a little sad that you can’t hunt animals like we could in Skyrim. It was always fun to live off the land, but here, the world feels a bit more restricted in that regard.

Still, if you’re an RPG fan, this one’s worth diving into.

Firstly, let's get one thing straight: Starfield is an RPG, not a SpaceSim. What it is, though, is a masterpiece crafted from years of dedication by an incredibly creative team. Imagine combining the open-world magic of Skyrim with the gritty, post-apocalyptic atmosphere of Fallout—that's Starfield for you. As someone who's spent countless hours in Elite, No Man's Sky, and Star Citizen, I can vouch for the next-level immersion and realism that Starfield's RPG elements bring to the table.

I hit level 11 in just under a few hours, and I'm still hooked. The ship customization, crew management, and gear options are intricate yet addictively fun. My only minor complaint? The cut-scenes and load times could be shorter. But a quick fix—moving the game to my NVMe drive—made it run as smooth as butter. I've been playing non-stop for hours without a single crash or lag.

Bethesda's proprietary engine gives them a unique advantage, making even their older titles feel fresh and new. Plus, it's a boon for modders, especially those familiar with legacy mods from previous games. The complexity in ship-building is unparalleled, and the weapon details are just top-notch. Pro tip: If you're experiencing slow load times, use the starmap for travel. You don't have to be in your ship to jet off to another planet.

Cheers, and I hope you enjoy the game as much as I have!

My only minor complaint? The cut-scenes and load times could be a bit snappier. But let's not forget, Bethesda's proprietary engine not only gives their games a unique flair but also makes modding a breeze, especially if you're familiar with mods from their previous titles.

Pro tip: If you're experiencing slow load times, try using the starmap for your main travel hub. You don't actually have to be in your ship to jet off to another planet—unless you want the full experience, of course. Cheers, and I hope you find Starfield as enthralling as I have!

Starbourne 2, a single-developer project, is a testament to the potential of indie game development. This game has managed to capture the essence of space exploration and combat, offering a unique experience that rivals even the most prominent titles in the genre.

The game's mechanics are solid and well-thought-out. Space combat is a particular highlight, providing a dynamic and engaging experience that is both challenging and rewarding. It doesn't hold your hand, which adds to the thrill and satisfaction of mastering the game's mechanics.

The user interface, while currently plagued with bugs, shows promise. It's clear that with some optimization and polish, it could become an intuitive and seamless part of the gameplay experience.

Ground combat, while a bit clunky at present, lays a solid foundation. It's clear that with some additional refinement and quality assurance, it could become an equally enjoyable aspect of the game.

One of the most commendable aspects of Starbourne 2 is its commitment to the true spirit of Early Access. The developer has created a platform where sales directly contribute to the game's development, rather than filling corporate coffers. This approach is refreshing and deserves recognition and support.

However, it's important to note that Starbourne 2 is still in its early stages. It has its share of bugs and requires optimization. But given the developer's evident commitment and the game's potential, I am optimistic about its future.

Starbourne 2 is a promising space sim that, despite its current imperfections, offers a compelling and enjoyable experience. It's a game that truly deserves the support of the space sim community as it continues to evolve and improve.

WoW!!! It's beautiful and I love it! I can live with bugs, I haven't ran into any game breaking bugs. I also ran the client over the past few days 24/7 no crashes. If your a long time ESO player like myself, you will immediately see the value.. You may never go back!!

Hint: Any self-respecting PC Gamer knows to update their system drivers, and apply o/s patches frequently in doing so you may reduce many of your problems on game release days.

Cheers,

I've put a lot of hours into CD and completed the main story 2 times, working on my third, I will say if you rush through the main story you are not doing yourself or the game any justice. CD is very deep, if you have the patients to do the GIgs, and as many of the Side/hidden missions as you can find. I found the game very engaging/immersive and fun to play!.. Yes there's bugs which is expected when it comes too any game release of this massive size. I've been playing video game since the 80's and I have a game collection much larger than most ;). Any review about this game where the reviewer has less than 100 hours in the game isn't a review and I recommend avoiding or just ignoring what I call "Reviewers for Like's Media". CyberPunk is the game I was looking for the Game that reminds me of the days and nights I spent reading the Graphic Novels. I hope you take the time to enjoy this master piece, along with the bugs, as I have.

The game in Cosmos Wireless VR running on a RTX 6000 with Motion Chair is super NICE! i couldn't stop playing, i tried it first without VR its was great, but once I was in the Car in VR it felt like the real thing going around corners.. Its not Project Cars 2 which is also nice but a totally different experience and different type of simulation. I wouldn't compare them to each other, this is more like GRID/Fortz Horizon. One more thing if your using VR turn off the external monitor to increase performance you can thank me later.. feel free to friend me on Steam if you want to RACE!!!
