This isn't a review on the game itself. This is a review on the recent actions of Gamigo US Inc. As of making this review, an AI-generated teaser image was posted in the FATE: Reawakened Discord server's announcements channel. The resulting backlash was so strong that even the admins in the server were voicing their strong but very justified criticisms against using Generative AI.

Amid the chaos of the members of the server voicing their frustrations, one of the moderators was banned from the server for leading the charge. All of their messages criticizing Gamigo's use of AI were also deleted. This is NOT how you damage control. This is a slimy method of action to take when the community starts a fire under your feet.

To anyone who reads this before the DLC releases, vote with your wallets. Don't let Gamigo get away with this.

And to anyone who reads this before buying the game, please, just buy the originals.

______________________________________________________________

UPDATE: The Gamigo plant in the comments deleted their initial response, so allow me to lift the lid on the rotten meat and potatoes of what was deleted:
______________________________________________________________

"The image was removed because....well, panic - not to cover our tracks. We put something out there that was the result of internal lack of communication. This is on us to improve, definitely.

Al is a mess. As with many companies in this industry, we're trying to navigate it's usage - when it's appropriate, when it is not. In our marketing banners, we use Al. For in-game, we should not.

The community is right to be angry. We were clumsy, and we're trying."
______________________________________________________________

A few bullet points I've made from this:

- The part you wanted to remove was likely the second paragraph, where you outright admitted to the company's desire to use AI generated content in some capacity, hence my comment at the bottom being my saying "The use of AI is NEVER appropriate."

- By deleting the initial response and posting a reworded response, you've contradicted the first paragraph, which stated that the people at Gamigo panicked instead of attempting to cover your tracks. You literally just attempted to cover your tracks about mentioning that your company was open to the idea of using AI generated content to begin with. You are further destroying your playerbase's trust of you by repeatedly backpedaling.

- For some reason, every "I" in "AI" was a lowercase "L" in your response. Perhaps this is the "clumsiness" you were talking about?
______________________________________________________________

Also, not sure if it was really you guys or not, but I wouldn't put it behind Gamigo to be the reason why the "recent reviews" score completely vanished from the game's overview.

Do better, guys.

Won a match by killing a warlock with "rock tuah." Most fun I've had in ages.

Most of the reviews here complain about the performance issues and crashes, but I'd like to mention that it's FAR worse on the DS. The game completely freezes when using PSI to escape a battle, and you can't even use your PSI to skip Leapgates.

This is a bit of a hot take, but I really enjoy this game. My main gripe is that since most of the game's crafting recipes are earned randomly, you may not get the blueprint for the Acheron Ghosthip every playthrough. Overall though it's a nice game to wind down to. Obviously not my #1 fave, but it has its charms.

Abysmal PC launch. Worst leap of faith I ever took with a pre-order. Requiring a heavy RTX software on a beefy card with a lofty 6 GB of VRAM minimum is inexcusable. You're gatekeeping the hardware of a large percentage of poorer fans of the franchise. Some of us don't have 3K we can throw at a custom built PC.

The $70.00 price tag should have been warning enough. I can only hope that pre-ordering a game doesn't make me illegible for refunding the $100.00 I spent on this. I could've fed myself for a week on that.

Made some weed that I called The 4th Dimension.

Also please optimize the game, I've been bricked out of playing for months because the RAM usage shoots up to like, 12 GB when on a loading screen and it makes my computer sneeze and close everything.

Glad the rupture strain is gone.

Now fix all the performance issues. The audio cuts out. The game hitches. I'm rubberbanding in singleplayer.

As much as I want to give this game a benefit of a doubt, I don't see this game going in any good direction. Each update brings repeated nerfs that make the gameplay even more unbalanced than it already was.

Playing any sort of run for an achievement is like pulling teeth, with enemies that drastically level up in strength while the player remains at the same level.

Half your skills become irrelevant unless you explicitly build for that skill, but why the hell would people have to NOT focus on their primary weapon?

Many of the perks you can obtain in the run are just plain bad. Arc shot? Why would I want to put gravity physics on my bullets? Mag shot? The only weapons with large enough magazines don't benefit from the damage increase. Damage shot? That only pairs well with a few weapons. Everything else does single digit damage and therefore benefits better from flat shot.

The damage falloff is atrocious. Even with a large amount of items, the enemies become absurdly tanky while your weapon still gives out the same base damage. Your melee skill often becomes irrelevant after the first biome, and your grenades always become useless after looping.

There have been so many nerfs to the player and their abilities in the updates that each time they say "we've made the game more balanced to rely less on snowball runs," I just laugh. The game is still unfair after all the updates.

You easily get bored doing normal runs, and when you want to challenge yourself, the game is unforgiving.

The bosses are terrible. No telegraphing to their attacks. They are the same enemies over and over again, be it a bullet sprayer, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tank, or an enemy with some sort of stupid and annoying ability. I've fought Undertale bosses with better attack choreography.

Many normal enemies can oneshot you if you aren't button mashing like a mortal kombat player, and even then, some enemies have no balancing on their attacks and often wait for you to be on some sort of cooldown to attack. The only winning strategy is dashing and mashing like a madman.

There are many badly written features and bugs too. I've had bugs where all the items on the stage get scrapped when I only scrap one. I've had bugs where I grab an item and it sends me through a portal instead. And for god's sake, remove the auto-aim feature within a short range of the player. I'm tired of getting spun 180 degrees when a fodder enemy flings itself at me. The LAST thing I want is to turn my back to the priority enemy I was shooting at.

Do you want a hard but fun roguelike? Get Death Road to Canada. Do you want to mow down hordes of enemies by stacking powerful items? Get Risk of Rain 2.

This game is not a roguelike.

This game is a bullet hell.

Just plain doesn't work. I have a PS4 controller and it never takes any input. I've turned steam input on and off, and while turning it off lets me navigate menus at least, I literally am unable to do anything else. I can't even pause with the options button. Escape is the only functioning key in this game.
