Evil West is an immensely engaging beat-em-up action RPG. Without a doubt, combat is the game's strongest aspect, with stylish combos flowing together smoothly. The player's kit feels fun and varied, and it genuinely feels so cool once you get into the flow. That's another aspect the game does brilliantly - it really makes you feel like a badass cowboy vampire hunter. I think the game could capitalise on this - something akin to a style meter like from Ultrakill (but thematic) could serve to reward players who really do get into a good flow.

The gaps between combat can feel a bit empty, I think the platforming/puzzle aspect felt more like a roadblock between the fun combats rather than part of fun itself, so I would often try to speed through them as fast as possible. The worldbuilding is decent, it helps set the mood of the game very well. The characters feel unique but also fall into too many tropes. Once you get a vibe of a character, they wont surprise you and you can predict their dialogue very easily. Also got the unique situation of a game where I wouldn't want to go for a beer with literally anyone, so take from that what you will.

All in all, it was a fun experience. Pick it up on sale, and give it a good playthrough.

The Outer Worlds is an incredibly fun and immersive RPG. The world feels like it genuinely reacts to your actions and abilities, with just the right amount of linearity to keep you on track. The combat system feels satisfying, and the skills system feels very rewarding. It makes sense

I think the best part about it is the atmosphere that the game build up. The setting feels very well fleshed out, but the NPCs make it shine. Each NPC feels interesting, with genuine personalities that make them feel unique and fun to get to know. The companion system is engaging, and I was emotionally attached to my crew by the end of the game.

Would recommend anyway, but is an absolute bargain on sale.

No other game of this genre has as good of execution with a story as this one does, would definitely recommend.

It's a genuinely fun horde shooter! Huge developments since trilogy, so many new things added to really make the game feel great. 100% recommend, just watch out if you're on a low-powered system like me as it sometimes crashes.
