I had to refund this game because I was getting headaches from the constant flickering white screen.
Every time coins are dropped, the little shimmer effect would cause the entire screen to flash white. It even happened in the title screen with the little Sun plant that would spew out sun health - those would cause the screen to flash white as well. I can only assume that this was because I'm using Windows 11 and the game wasn't made for the OS. I did get it to stop the flashing when I used compatibility mode, but then the game would stutter every few moments and randomly crash.

If you've got Windows 10 or lower, you shouldn't be having these issues. Or maybe you will. It's not like the game is being supported any more.

If you really want to get the game, wait until it's on sale??? If this game will go on sale...

There won't be any spoilers in this review.
UNDERTALE is a game that shows the player that people who seem bad or evil may in fact not be evil at all.

The gameplay is a mix between an RPG and a Bullet-Hell shooter - although it's not so "Hell-ish." Exploring the UNDERGROUND is similar to an overworld in an RPG. Battles are turn-based like RPGs too. The Bullet-Hell begins when it's the Monster's turn to attack. You'll have to guide your SOUL and avoid oncoming projectiles and other unique attacks.

The game has a unique ability to SPARE monsters, instead of killing them. You can still do that and gain experience. So what it comes down to is a question: should you FIGHT monsters to gain more experience & health, or should you SPARE monsters and spill no blood dust?

UNDERTALE has a large focus on Story and characters with some comedy. Gameplay is a bit simple, especially if you are someone who has played Bullet-Hells before. If you play games only for the gameplay and nothing else, your experience may not be as great as others. If you are into stories and character development, you'll most likely love this game.

TL;DR, UNDERTALE is more of an Interactive Story that has RPG and Bullet-Hell gameplay elements. If you're up for a good story where you can get 3 different endings, then go ahead and buy it.
