*Sigh*

After reading some of the (sometimes ridiculous) reviews, here's my opinion and some speculation as to certain decisions Bethesda has made that seems to displease the PC community.

First of all, the Special Edition was never intended to please the PC community. It's mainly there for the console users, who definitely needed an upgrade from what the old Skyrim game was. That's why we got the game for FREE on PC, if we already owned the original copy. Bethesda knows the original Skyrim can look better with the help of mods and such. But why try to make it look better than that if we all know the current gen consoles won't be able to handle the visuals anyway. They don't have time to make 2 versions of the game, so it's better to let the modding community take care of that on the PC side of things, as they have done for years now.

On top of that, one should note that they are working on multiple titles right now, they dont have the time to rebuild the game from scratch and debug the whole thing (I haven't even seen anything game breaking yet). Sooner or later mods will come out that will fix all the known issues. It's much rather them having faith in the modding community (atleast in this case), than them abusing it. We should be happy we got anything at all.

I also do not understand why people complain they can't run the game properly, when their pc's are most likely not up to the task. I run a GTX 970, I7 4790K CPU, with 16GB of DDR3 RAM, and the experience has been silky smooth so far, easily capping at a constant 60 fps. I know this is way above what's recommended, but running an ENB on the original Skyrim, and setting everything to ultra, wasn't half as smooth as the Special Edition is for me.

Some textures aside (which will eventually be improved by mods, just be a bit patient!), the game looks wonderful. The new lighting and improved color palette was much needed, and does the job perfectly.

All in all, the game is still Skyrim. People who expected to get more simply wanted too much.
Besthesda has delivered exactly what they have promised, and I recommend everyone who hasn't purchased Skyrim yet, to save themselves a couple of hours of work to get an ENB and the necessary mods, and just get the Special Edition and enjoy the game right off the bat, you won't regret it.

Happy adventuring!

Pretty sure devs abandoned this one. Don't waste your money on it, it's not worth it.
