Updated for 1.0

Armory feels like an attempt to drive retention in unfriendly ways. The devs know what they're doing, and they should know better. TC's website lists each dev's favorite games and the hugely successful titles they've worked on, yet 1.0 manages to include countless toxic, unfriendly mechanics that those games avoid. I'm just disappointed in the end; while the game has to succeed, compromising on core values and player experience isn't the way forward.

Beta:
Sadly an underwhelming experience that doesn't follow through on its potential in almost every way, overshadowed by very heavy handed design choices which have continued throughout beta. The vision for the game is great; initial experiences are magical and implies something greater; SUPERVIVE doesn't deliver here and the magic wears off quickly. Aesthetically, the game seems directed at a younger audience, but it feels as if the developers have no idea what that actually resembles, or what appealing to that looks like - i.e. "what your dad thinks fortnite is" vibe.

Open beta changes don't resolve the most fundamental problems for the genre (MOBA BR). Ranked system creates skewed lobbies that don't play out in fun or interesting ways - for skilled players and newer ones alike. Whether my team wins or not, I mostly find that I'm just not having fun.
