Free remaster for owners of original Quake2, nice.

I wish the last left in the 90s - Quake III Arena - will get enhanced re-release too.

Can't recommend a racist developer, dividing artists by skin color with their latest update.

I played the game when it was fresh, outside of Steam. Unforgettable experience. It was again (after HL) a masterpiece of it's time, raising the bar for 2004+ game devs.

Now I'm nominating the game for labor-of-love (and getting badge btw). The game still gets new updates, and mods, like Entropy:Zero2 and VR Mod.

It was a good game long time ago, but lacked a few graphics options for my taste.
- With further updates it got MSAA (and SSAA) support that fixed flickering edges.
- Another update added option to tone down the very bright light-lines on maps.
- Latest update fixed stuttering, so it's perfectly smooth with high framerates.

Now I can recommend it :)

Can't set keyboard controls for this crap. Keys like ctrl or shift etc. are not bindable. I can try modifying the keycodes (probably) in config file, or writing ahk script for this. But seriously, wtf is with these half-assed console ports for PC.

Very nice for a early demo. Free 6DOF navigation, clean look, good sounds. Still it has bugs, sometimes crashes. Also uneven performance - shooting+explosions can increase GPU use a few times, after some time in game framerate drops and game needs to be restarted. Limited, almost text-only HUD. Looking forward for full game and multiplayer.

Another game with great potential, mishandled by its developer.

I'll just quote my comment below "Quake Live Steamworks Launch" announcement.
What a joke. Silence before update, now no option to link old QL accounts to steam. Subscribers have to email and beg for a money return, no word about unused tokens. Are you kidding? You should send emails before update and return money without asking. I hope people will complain about it to your parent company and on steam. This is rude money scam and you should be fired for handling it like that.

(I have "0.1 hrs on record" now, but in fact it was a few thousands hours)

After the latest launcher update, the game doesn't even start. "You must launch this game from steam" Really hirez? I am launching it from steam. Next is "ERROR MissingImage: HirezError.jpg", wrong directory in diagnostics, and other crap and no fix. The only left to try is uninstall, maybe non-steam version will work. I'm really tired of hi-rez incompetence.
The game was good (when it worked), though abandoned by developer, left unoptimized and with many bugs.

At first game wants some EA account, I wanted to just try it locally but already it's a struggle to get rid ot all this EA login crap.
Then menu is terrible, can't get to settings (but can go to "store" anytime lol), menu key response is sluggish.
Game runs in 60fps without any option to change it - I'm not going to play @60Hz on a CRT (I use 1600x1200@110Hz or 1024x768@165Hz).
After some retardedly long introduction, when I'm finally allowed to play... vehicle controls doesn't work.
