This game is much better on this platform than that of Switch. So if you enjoyed it there you will likely enjoy it more on steam. The game is very replayable. Figuring out character and team builds and mapping out their combos is kinda fun. Quite a few achievements to unlock.
I am not going to tell you to save scum or not...but you certainly could. The writing...can be a bit much. Some of it can be very transparent and when playing certain campaigns I found it difficult to maintain interest. Generally the overall campaign is as stiff as train track with only one or two major binary choices while the smaller encounters and randomly generated items create the kaledoscopic unique snowflake stuff that actually make the game fun.

So I started playing Ubisoft’s Far Cry 5 “Not Left 4 Dead 3” DLC last week and I after playing through about half of the “campaign” and I can say pretty assuredly I am disappointed in the direction this series has gone. I speak of the series direction of how money leaves my wallet for something (let’s say hypothetically the cost of a season pass) to play something I think will translate into “fun”. I would post graphs or a flash video on youtube showing you the sharply indirect correlation of “money spent” vs. “fun had” but it’s better to exercise your imagination.

Because you will need to have an robust imagination playing this game that really is not “Not Left 4 Dead 3”. You will play through several chapters of Guy Marvel attempting to get a movie idea produced. :commence synopsis:: Each Chapter is like a movie..with a director...who plots out the zombies attacking you. Some of these zombies are “normal run of the mill” types and others are special zombies. You work your way through an area getting to different “crescendo” like events until you work your way to “climax” event where you fight a boss or a massive horde. Sometimes you are fighting on or rooftops...or a bridge...or a cemetary… to reach an ending that seems happy but kind of isn’t.

That’s not to say that they did not take some liberties not taken in other zombie shooters. If you like someone who is *not* Hurk. But. Never. Stops. Talking. constantly and excitely telling you everything that is about to happen this game is awesome at that. Being quiet is impossible and stealth is pointless. They took the courageous approach of not making head shots instant kills. Sometimes it just staggers them in such a way you think you dropped them but they sort off fell off behind you leaving your back exposed. And you can not maim them.
Maybe you just have to always get them between the eyes. It’s kinda nifty how a shotgun blast doesn't really give you the spray effect one might be accustomed. You will find the pistol to be the best weapon in the game. Oh! I absolutely love the enhanced weapon reload times. I wish there was an option to check the time on your watch or make a phone call between reloading a clip to further “enhance” the time it takes to get your next shot off I think that would really be fantastagreat.

All in all I have hand it to whomever...that they can take a genre that is pretty played out, make a satire of it that feels incredibly unimaginative and not funny. Perhaps zombie apocolypses are not supposed to be that. Lesson learned.

This was the DLC that sold me on getting the season pass. It ended up being a belly flop into a huge bile jar that some guy playing as Ellis is about to throw at a rampaging Tank and screw up your kiting. If I could give it a score I would give it a 9.9 out of infinite number of Hurk’s Never. Stops. Talking. It’s so good that I don’t think I will ever need to get a season pass to any future Ubisoft games. You know. Because. Fun. Or something.

This game packs aliens, guns, space, and fighting all in one box. Only problem it did not pack fun or amusement. Hurk. Never. Stops. Talking. This game takes the heart of darkness DLC that relied on stealth for the most part and did the opposite. Hurk. Never. Stops. Talking. It is impossible to sneak in the game. If you step on gravel or dirt you are swarmed by enemies. Usually, you will kill them. Sometimes you won't. So you will respawn, back to a place where you might kill them or perhaps you won't. But don't worry if you die you will respawn and be teleported back to a place nearby where you can then engage the enemy and kill them. But there is, of course, the chance you won't.

Hurk. Never. Stops. Talking. Sometimes he even repeats himself. Which is good because you need something a little repetitive in this game. Otherwise you might be climbing a tower to get an item or killing a queen and some guys or climbing a tower to turn something on or shooting some guys or getting a heart out of queen or running across an open area to a tower that you have to climb where you might get into a fight with some aliens or a queen. But it's not repetitive at all.

This DLC was so fun to play except it wasn't. Hurk. Never. Stops. Talking. This game is what I would imagine a conscious lobotomy (Hurk. Never. Stops. Talking.) would feel like...or if a video game could slowly destroy each of your cranial nerves without you realizing it.

I wanted to like this game...Which is a shame because a lot of work went into this game. They put a lot of time writing lines for Hurk as evidenced by the fact that Hurk. Never. Stops. Talking. The scenery is desolate and Mars-like. There are moments of tension and eventually, you will be completely numb to jump scares. The aliens are very alieny and have large scrotums which I would imagine all space aliens have. Hurk. Never. Stops. Talking. You can also play the game with a friend. But, you might have trouble chatting with your friend because of the dialogue of hirelings. Particularly that of Hurk. It's not so much dialogue as it is a never-ending monologue. By Hurk. Never. Stops. Talking.

Play because you enjoy the nostalgia of playing it. Do not play if you liked other far crys (3,4,primal) and think this one might be as good. Come to think of it. Don't even play for that whole nostagia thing. It just isn't good and it will make you sad.

The game was enjoyable. The concept was interesting. Got repeditive at times but there was enough variance in game play approaches to keep it a little fresh.
Contains spoilers.

I liked the first one. Did not care for this one. They made some changes to how you set up your fleet. I did not find flying the mothership around very fun. Press forward. Shoot them while they are in front of you. Shoot them broadside. Circle them shoot them some more. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

I did not find this game as casual as I would have liked. I found myself constantly hopelessly fighting the infection within my ship. The game simply ceased to be fun. I am not expecting game designers to make a game for only me. I just did not care for this game. I am one opinion in a sea of other peoples opinions.

It bums me out I am uninstalling it with leaving two achievments locked. Oh well.

Game is just sort of...eh. I enjoyed the previous xcom and I got the impression it wanted to be some strange medium between a FPS and the turn based thing it was. It sort of got a miss with both. They might have hit the dart board...but they were not very high scores. So what you end up doing is saying...this game isnt as good as [insert your favorite fps] and not as good as the last Xcom.
I loved the 50's styling. The old weapons. But some stuff got repeditive quick. Dialogue. The running around in the base. Its difficult to command guys sometimes with their insatiable desire to break cover, miss constantly, couple with the camera never quite falling into place.
Get this game on sale...and the sting will not hurt as bad.

Revisited: 3/28/14: Just don't. Still have not beat it. I got to what I assume is the last mission and realized: This game kinda blows. Quit. Ill let it sit there another year then...one night when I am drunk ill call it up on the phone and hang up again.

This was a fun game. A heck of alot shorter than FC3. Considerably easier. Gettting all the packages. Missions. Liberations. Etc. Even on Hard. But in FC3 I spent alot more time in stealth stalking people. This was a blood bath/brawl. The whole time the game was not taking itself seriously at all. It was fantastic. The dialogue made me laugh out loud a times. Playing it made me want to go throw in some 80's cult films. Good game.

This game *was* good. In an effort to get rid of cheats and a few bugs...they made the game kinda crappy. I don't want to spend my morning telling you how "blah" this game is. I am told a sequel is coming out. My first reaction was..."Why?" What crap could they change from the first one that would make getting the second one relevant or necessary? Get this game if you have a friend you chat with on a regular basis and make playing this game sort of social thing rather than playing a game. If you want a good Zombie game...just get something out of the L4D Series.

I could not recommend this game more. It's fun. Every play through is different. Requires timing. Strategy. And you have to be aware of everything going on in your ship at all times. I got my key from a friend who pitched in for the Kickstarter. I wish I knew about it before the kickstarter ended I would have gladly thrown in for it.
