I bought, installed, and 100%ed the game in one sitting. Can't say I've ever done that before.

Early Access Review
Is this game perfect? Not at all.
Is it buggy? Yeah.
Does it frustrate me at times? Absolutely.

Do I enjoy playing it? Without a doubt.

Camping, crafting, exploring, and trying to figure out WTF is going on. Any more than that would be spoiling it.

It's definitely an early access game and comes with all the associated baggage.
The devs are very active. They are listening and interacting with players on Discord. Bugs and feature suggestions are posted all the time, and the devs are reading and responding. It's a great community.

Definitely check it out if seems like your type of game. And join the Discord. Help them make it the best it can be.

Early Access Review
I really like the game, but I just can't recommend it in it's current state. It's extremely unstable, and crashes a lot. I will likely put it down for a while and hope the next update or two will solve the issues.

12/19/2025 This latest update, while not perfect, has fixed quite a few of my performance issues, and while the framerate has dropped, the stability has improved greatly.

I am changing my review, and for anyone that knows the risks that come with early access, I can recommend this game, and look forward to exploring the new content.

I'm recommending this because I only have the 2 options, I am getting some enjoyment out of playing it, and it's not bad enough to not recommend.

That being said: If you are trying to decide between this and Void Bastards, I'd go with the latter.

Early Access Review
I've enjoyed the game so far. At time of review I've played about 6 hours. It's definitely early access, and comes with all the pros and cons of that kind of release.

There is a lot of potential in this game.

Some suggestions:

It definitely needs more story. A prologue, some audio logs, or something. The "emails" that are currently in the game are lacking in anything that really pulls me in to the mystery of this place.

More encounters between stations. There are times when traveling from station to station where I've literally done nothing. Some abandoned trains to scavenge for parts, maybe the track needs to be repaired to continue, even some splits in the track to at least give the illusion of doing something.

A little rework of the train physics. If I run out of energy while traveling down a mountain, the train slows down and stops just like id does on flat land. Allowing momentum to play a part in the train's movement could make for some throttle/energy management.

In all the time playing, so far, I have not once been able to craft a first aid kit. The plants and seeds have not spawned.

Have the food also heal when stamina is full, or something.

These are not criticisms, just suggestions. The game is early access, so I knew it wasn't going to be perfect.

I still recommend the game. I paid 10 dollars for it, and even at 12, I think it's worth it. This is under the assumption that the devs will be working on it, and pushing updates on a regular basis.

Feels like they left early access so they could just say they completed the game. I did have high hopes for this game back in the day, but there are newer better options out there. I'd go with those if you have the option.

Early Access Review
I never really liked these kinds of games, but Dinkum is awesome. I really can't tell you why I like it, and not the others like it, but I do. Maybe because I really enjoy Australian things.

Note to developer: Aunty Donna DLC.

The survival gamemode is great. The story mode would be too if it weren't for the random unskippable cut scenes and intros. I just finished an episode and went directly in to the next and I'm greeted with an unskippable recap followed by an unskippable into. But the intro in the previous episode was skippable. I stopped playing the story mode after that,

EDIT - I'm still playing the GD story mode, so I guess I have to amend mt review. I'm still annoyed that I can't skip things, but I do love playing this game.

It doesn't feel as cohesive as the original. I enjoyed Six Inches Under more than the "Crash" DLC for Supraland.
It's fun, and in the end, that's all that matters.

Played this when it first came out in early access and enjoyed it. Came back when it was finished, and really enjoyed the story. A lot of fun.
