Honestly, it's probably too little too late. The game was released horribly broken and really tarnished the Total War brand. As a person who loved the scope of Empire, I was hoping for that level of detail to be applied without the bugs to Rome II and unfortunately I was dissappointed.

However! After the massive patching campaign and assorted updates they brought, I can truly say that this game is really worth playing. It is very different than previous installations and the army/province systems truly require a new level of forethought and strategy that isn't in previous games. However, some of the polish on this game gets a little too much over time. The game starts to feel a little formulaic since you are much more limited in what the game recommends you do.

Overall, this is a good game, great for fans of the series, a little intimidating for those that are new. I'd give it a 7.5/10 now.
