I have delayed writing this review for a long time and simply put, I am extremely torn about this game. While there are several elements of this game which makes it charming, I ultimately could not finish this game for one major reason: Too many game mechanics.

I'm not going to go into a breakdown of pros and cons, because I enjoyed the pacing and the cinematics, but ultimately, what stopped me from playing were two things: Siege Combat and Kingdom Management.

I don't enjoy the Siege Combat gameplay. It is slow, clunky and a lot of the time outside your immediate control when they are battling. It would be great if it was a side mode where completing sieges rewards you with materials for crafting, but when it is forced into the story progression, it ruins the rest of the game. I enjoy the normal arena styled, action combat. While that can also become repetitive, the bosses were somewhat enjoyable. The sieges are what ultimately stopped me from playing any further when I was hit with a roadblock and cannot continue the story further without going back and upgrading my units through more sieges. It is an unnecessary addition to the game.

The Kingdom Management felt more like a chore than a blessing. It felt like I was operating a mobile game at times, having to continuously come back and check if my upgrades have made any progress for me to get better weapons, armour or spells. All of which are fine, but it became a system of explore one area, check on kingdom, explore the next area, check kingdom. I understand I don't have to always come back and check, but if the system is there, and there are benefits to aid your combat and equipment, there is more incentive to keep checking. Eventually, it becomes a chore and halts gameplay.

Other than those two major issues on my part, the rest of the game is fine. I cannot recommend this game because while it starts strong, the middle and endgame starts to rip your time apart in tiny pieces where you cannot reasonably enjoy them all. I really hope I never have to see the Siege mechanic ever again.

10/10

It's even more entertaining when you do things the wrong way and it still works out. Testing the portals on all surfaces and trying to reach somewhere ludicrous has never been more hysterical.

The community levels add a new dimension to the possibilities of this game. The creativity of genuises out there is astounding.

Very fun game for the laughs and giggles especially when you die to the most stupid things. Thes best part is unlocking the multitude of characters available for you to fight with. The bad things is the game can be glitchy when playing online with your friend. Get the bugs sorted and it's a great game.
