Short version for now:

Things I like:
* The alternate turn combat and smaller scale
* The concept of the breach system (the implementation leaves something to be desired imo)
* The concept of bespoke "hero" units with unique abilities/ability trees
* The concept of units with strongly defined units with distinct and unique personalities (Fire Emblem has been doing this for years at this point)

The main issues I have are all with the specific execution. In particular, the characters' personalities seem extremely superfluous given that they don't appear to evolve or change much over the course of the campaign. I was expecting character-specific missions to unlock at some point, but they never did.

If this was a full-priced game, I'd have a very hard time recommending this to anyone, but at 1/6 the price of a full game, it's worth picking up if you're a fan of the setting of the newer XCOM games or are a desperate for a new turn-based squad strategy game.

From the makers of Bastion comes a brand new game with a brand new setting. As with Bastion, the soundtrack and art are fantastic, but now instead of a Post-Apocalyptic/Western/Fantasy setting, now it's a (post-post-?)cyberpunk-ish setting with elements of noir. The combat system moves from a typical "isometric" action-RPG to a turn-based hybrid with the "Turn" system and the new abilities (programs/characters) are incredibly versatile, giving different effects when slotted into active/passive or mutation slots, giving tactical depth and an incentive to mix up and experiment with your combat style.

The plot is something best experienced yourself, told through varied means as audiologs, "codex"-style entries (tied to varied use of the combat abilities), environment and enemy design as much as the sequence of events.

Highly recommended, even more so if you're a fan of Bastion.
