This game is jankier than any Bethesda game I've played. The quality of combat has significantly decreased since the first game. There is rarely a visual cue for ranged damage and the terrain hitboxes seem very misplaced, leaving the player to wonder if every shot even did anything. The melee combat is no better, with enemies gladly teleporting to line up their special attacks and swinging weapons through trees. Meanwhile, the player will miss or collide with the aforementioned misplaced hitboxes if they do not line up their attack perfectly. Since the combat system also cannot handle elevation, the player is very heavily discouraged from fighting anywhere that is not the center of a flat open field.

Then there's the occasional inability to lock onto certain enemies, block indicators suddenly disappearing, uncancellable reload animations on <mild spoiler weapon>, cutscenes that remove the weapon you were just holding from your hands, and many, MANY cutscenes that force the player to resort to specifically melee combat. All problems that I don't remember encountering in the first game.

I really love the story and aesthetics of this game. I just don't want to slug through more godawful fights to experience it.
