I actually wanted to wait for the european e-Shop release but i couldn´t resist. The game deserves all the hype, that´s all there is to say really. It is adorable. You can feel the love they have putted into this one and it all comes together just right. They nailed the difficulty, making it more accessible than the classic Megaman or Metroid games but still challenging enough. There is NG+ as well but i haven´t checked that mode out yet. The game will push all your nostalgia buttons but at the same time this one feels really fresh. It is timeless and for the asking price a real bargain too.
Mega Man meets Duck Tales meets Dark Souls...What´s not to like there? Seriously 10/10. I will pick up the 3DS version as well as soon as it hits the euro stores. Yeah, i dig it that much.

this is dark souls through and through but they indeed streamlined it a little bit. i personally liked the way demons souls´ nexus worked and that it was more linear than dark souls but i am not so sure if i am such a big fan of the mixed design they went for in ds 2. it could be some light franchise fatigue but i found this game a bit less memorable than either demons or dark souls...it still is a fantastic game and a great entry point for everyone on the fence about this series. give it a shot. it´s hard but metroid games are harder. many games are harder actually. dark souls just needs full attention and focus but exactly that makes it so unbelieveably satisfying and addictive. that and outstanding artdesign, a unique way of story telling and a great feel for combat. if you go in slow paced, allow it to grow on you and focus on your build, to be a caster or a melee guy and don´t experiment too much with your skill points, almost everyone can beat these games. there is a lot of internet myth involved around the series. some is true, some is a bit off. don´t be afraid of these games. they are absolutely playable and if you got hooked once, you´ll probably be hooked forever. to sum it up. this series is among the best gaming experiences you can buy for your money. this game is no exception.

After playing through Dark Souls again and finding out hat the PvP isn´t that active anymore i was looking for another sword fighting game to play before DS II comes out. I looked into Chivalry and War of the Roses - Both are alright but didn´t click with me (yet). Then i bought War of the Vikings pretty much out of the blue and for the first few hours i couldn´t really get into it as well but the solid presentation, graphics, animations, music and great audio in general kept me coming back. I am now still only 12 hours in but yeah, it clicked. I am getting a hang of the gameplay and i really start to enjoy this game a lot. If you haven´t played M&B or War of the Roses before or even -like me- switched back from console to PC, be prepared for a steep learning curve and a lot of failing battles...but if you stick with it you WILL get better obviously. It might take a little longer to get a feeling for the game than with some other games - but it´s worth your time because when you finally get a hang of it, the game starts to reveal it´s true beauty. Recommended, definitely - But not for everybody i think...

i got into the souls games very late. i hesitated to pick them up because i thought that they would be too frustrating. i loved the artdesign but i feared to start playing them because i was almost sure that i wont finish them. then, in 2013, i picked up the demons souls black phantom collector edition (was a pretty good deal used), thinking that i´d at least have some great artwork to look at if i´d fail at the game :) i started the game and was hooked instantly, finished it in about a week thinking, living, breathing demons souls. i was rarely THAT hooked to a game before. i started dark souls on the ps3 after that and finsihed that one in a heartbeat as well. these games are hard, sure but learning the enemies and making progress feels beautifully rewarding and exploring the amazingly atmospheric locations just keeps you hooked and hooked and hooked. the formula just works. i still slightly prefer demons souls. i love the nexus hub, i enjoyed that it was a bit more linear and i also thought that the overall atmosphere was sucking me in more...but both are, without a doubt, among my all time favourite games. i just bought dark souls for pc again and will play through it again now with the graphics/textures and beard (yeah!) mods activated. the lack of bc in the nextgen consoles made me buy the pc version again so i can always have this gem in my games library.

played this A LOT on ps3. to me it is one of the best games of the last few years. pushes all my buttons, nostalgic-yet fresh, challenging, cheesy in a good way, pumping beats that motivate you too keep running riot while wearing animal masks...10 out of 10

RUUUUUUN!!! good game this one. if you will ♥♥♥♥ your pants constantly, don´t be ashamed to turn off the audio once in a while. it´s ok, you´re not alone :)
running as the only option can become a bit shallow mid-gameish but overall it works and the game stays creepy all the way through. not the biggest fan of how this story wraps up at the end but i wont spoil that.

engine is great. game runs smooth. island is beautiful. gameplay and story is shallow, hunting, looting, crafting: it´s there but it feels tacked on. it´s another one of those aaa´s of the last years that really try so hard to make things as easy and convenient for the player as possible. there´s nothing wrong with that but i am not a fan of this because it often comes with a huge trade off: immersion, tension and a true feeling of an achievement get´s sacrificed by this. the dream/drug sequences are cool and made me want to play a game that focuses much more on stuff like that rather than the shooting but that never happens so these scenes really just stay showcase scenarios with no, or very little impact on the gameplay at all. overall this is certainly not a bad game but i can´t recommend it to everyone. it´s completely aimed at a younger audience too which is a shame. the dialogue has a constant roll eye factor to it. that vaas guy seems to be interesting at the start but it never really gets there - the character gets stuck and never really delivers - good idea but it stays underdeveloped...like the whole game. it´s working, promising but falls short in delivering something great. mp is ok but suffers from that revive mechanic which breaks the flow and overall there are so many much better options avaialble in the competitive shooter arena that it´s not worth buying this game for.
