I'm not writing this whole response for pity, just giving you my perspective. I am doing much better, but I still have demons to fight. I only ask that people not just gloss over all of this and try to understand why I seem distant nowadays.

In truth, I also think perhaps my heart was broken one too many times, and I don't mean that in the romantic sense. I just got fed up with running after people. My fault is that I've always been a people pleaser, because I was scared to lose and let go. I like to make people happier than I can be in private. When people start leaving for whatever reason, a part of me goes with them. Now imagine how much of that is left, now that a lot of them had. It got pretty bad, emotionally, that I nearly did think to leave. Instead, I hid myself away for a while and refused to look at my friends list anymore. It took several years, but eventually, I did find some semblance of myself again. But there is still a part of me that feels hurt by all that had happened and having to make do, after all those years ago. It's why my profile still seems a tad barren.

Besides what I wrote above, I've been dialing down my online activities since about late 2010's, in part due to college keeping me busy. I am still active, just not as publicly engaged and a bit more choosy with where I give my energy. I feel tired a lot of the time due to my illness, even if I don't seem it. It affects my mood and energy, and I don't have as much patience to figure out other people's baggage anymore. Many also don't want to hear from me, and that's alright. I've learned to not cling to those who won't stay to listen.

Regarding my invisible status, it's a long story. There was just a lot of emotional things going on for the past few years, and I hid myself for a while because I got fed up and was not in a good headspace.

I am much better now, but I ended up not wanting to appear online all the time anymore, so I just kept it. My chats are always open though, and I will reply if I see it.

Just want to clarify the statements below: Yes, I believe that the system should rather be a bartering system rather than give us the ability to buy/sell cards. I think part of the "fun" is not knowing what you might get. It feels more rewarding to finally complete a set without spending money at all, no matter how long it takes.

Even if people say CS:GO is mediocre (I don't care enough to play the game), it alongside TF2 and DotA2 are just money pits. Why bother developing games in-house anymore when you could just milk people's wallets with a system that can be equated to putting a game on life support. I've ranted this to people for years but change really comes once people stop supporting it.

With regard to the cards, I'll let you know right now that I go by a similar policy: I only trade duplicates among friends unless they insisted. If a set was incomplete, I don't care. I might get lucky and get a booster pack once in a blue moon but I will not go out of my way to spend pennies on virtual cards. I feel that there's a point when the meaning of trading cards loses its spirit and becomes nothing more than a way for people to circulate money between each other, even if the point of trading is to do just that. I could very well still be playing TF2 until now but it became harder and harder to ignore the cracks on the wall that spread from there and onto Steam.

@Mr.Weegeeman Well, it's always nice to hear people who feel the same way. Back when I was still active on TF2, I had a firm policy to only trade "duplicates for duplicates" If you had only one of weapon, I would not trade you unless you insisted. I had "friends" who probably knew the hat values more than me and managed to spirit away some from me and left me with cheap ones. Hats used to be a nice surprise to see back when it would drop randomly during a match. Then the crates happened and eventually the quality/rarity system. It was one of the reasons I completely retired from TF2 to begin with and that's a hill I'm willing to die on.

It's good to know we got sane people like you (and me) who find worhtlessness in cards and I personally find the supporter's response of "Then sell them" pointless; do they not realize that's also contributing to the very system we've come to be slaves over? They're kind of like the hat-conomy on TF2...we're really going downhill.
