This DLC is not great but that doesn't mean it's bad. I'd say it's not worth buying this DLC alone, but picking up the season's pass is a good idea.

Now, why would you buy this DLC? The reviews seem to be pretty bad. To start, this has one of the coolest (and most challenging) bosses in the game, no, in the series. On top of that, we get some cool-ass weapons added which open up viable new builds (onyx blade for example). If you're into the lore and if you're a dedicated fan then you've probably already purchased this but in the case you haven't, the lore implications that come from this DLC make it a must-buy on its own. There's also the fact that many things in the Ringed City DLC (the "good" one) won't make any sense to you if you haven't played through Ashes of Ariandel.

I will say that I don't recommend going through this DLC until you've completed the game, the enemies and that last boss are rather difficult at lower SLs and they give you access to it pretty early on.

A few gripes I have:
-There are only two bosses, one of which is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥. This makes the whole DLC very short.
-Seems to be a lot of unimportant areas that don't really provide incentive to explore them.
-As I said before, I found the regular enemies in the area to be extremely difficult my first playthrough but maybe
that's just me being bad

EDIT: Oh, everyone complaining about the final boss being not fun, frustrating and impossible, they have no idea what they're talking about. The type of guy to request a difficulty setting.
