When will Dr. Robotnik pay for his warcrimes? This is the biggest question posed by Sonic The Hedgehog scholars. In every iteration of mainline Sonic games and media, Dr. Robotnik commits horrible crimes against humanity, yet after being defeated by Sonic and his friends (using the power of friendship and the Chaos Emeralds) he simply escapes. He has destroyed entire cities, enslaved countless humans and animals but nothing comes out of it when he is finally beaten. When will we see Robotnik’s Nuremberg trials? Hopefully, in the secret ending of the next big Sonic game we will finally see him pay for his crimes. Robotnik has caused more atrocities than Stalin, Hitler and Mao combined! Sonic cannot let him escape on some dumb spaceship at the end, he must be arrested and sentenced to hang once and for all. This brings us to another question: if Sonic just lets Robotnik run away without punishment, is he also responsible for the carnage?
