I cannot possibly recommend this game enough. And on sale, it's a bloody steal.

The story and characters suck you in, and that ending... it's hard to say more without ruining it. Don't look up anything about this game. Don't read more reviews. Don't watch any YouTube videos. Go in completely blind, like I did. It's an incredible experience.

Clearly a mobile game port with a couple hours of playtime to get the best ending and no reason to replay. The graphics are serviceable and the models for the monsters look like they came from a Unity asset store. I bought it because I love The Thing and thought it looked similar, but this is pure shovelware. Go buy The Thing Remastered instead -- I'm truly puzzled how this game has a 'Very Positive' rating.

On a side note, I have to applaud the devs for their honesty -- this game does in fact feature a 'terrible sci-fi story.'

I'd refund if I'd completed the game just a LITTLE faster, but, alas... I have to live with seeing this in my library forever.

Early Access Review
I wish all early-access games were this fully-featured and fun.

If you like classic rail shooters like the original Star Fox but wish they had modern analog controls, this one is for you. It's got that awesome Super FX 16-bit aesthetic, a great soundtrack, dynamic levels with lots of crazy things happening and everything trying to kill you, and giant, creative, fun boss battles.

Can't wait to see where this goes next.

David Cage has been trying to make this game since 2005. He finally pulled it off.

Ok, let's get this out of the way. Is this a AAA open-world magnum opus like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Fallout New Vegas? No. But that's okay -- it's not supposed to be.

This is a labor of love, an incredibly faithful and authentic ode to the classic Terminator films that lets a player play through the only-glimpsed war of the future. The gameplay is solid, the controls are responsive, the sound design is absolutely 100% on point (right down to the distinctive droning sound from T2 when a Terminator is bearing down on you).

And the iconic Terminators themselves are terrifying... the first time you run into them when you don't have a weapon that can kill them yet. Once you do they're cannon fodder, but it's a shooter, I can forgive that. And mowing them down does NOT get old.

What I didn't expect, knowing this is an indie AA title (at best), is a crafting system that allows you to craft various gadgets and ammo, built off of various supplies and resources you find scattered around the maps. Despite being a linear game, with levels proceeding one after the other, it also feels pretty open, with hub areas between levels where you can restock, supply, craft, and talk with other characters and choose dialogue options and build rapport with them.

Again, par for the course in an actual open-world game or AAA title like Mass Effect, but nice to see here.

Am I setting my sights lower because this is an indie game? Am I being a little more forgiving of the flaws and limitations because it's not coming from a huge studio with unlimited resources? Maybe. But what I can say is I've been having a blast playing this and immersing myself in the future war of the Terminator series. It is a lot of fun and it's very clear that the developers have a real love for the series... at least the first two movies (the good ones). Maybe wait for a sale though -- $40 is a bit steep for what you're getting. It goes on sale frequently, so you won't have to wait long.

And yes. Get the Annihilation Line DLC.

Ok, got to go blast some more tin cans. Happy hunting!

Yesterday I was riding my horse I'd had for the entire game and got clipped by a train. I got away with minor injuries, but Bob was killed instantly. I've begun bonding with Bob II, but he can never truly replace Bob I.

So many feels in this game. Five stars.

The less you know about the game going in the better. This game made a grown man cry. Some of the humor felt very forced and out of place though.

Well worth one playthrough. I say one because the very nature of it means it has little to no replay value. Get it on sale.

Tried to build a route across the country, couldn't get enough blue cards, got cut off at the end and lost a ton of points. Highly recommend.
