A very fun and beautifully enjoyable demo that harkens back to both old HL2 horror mods as well as PS2 era horror games. It's also surprisingly quaint and comfortable feeling, has a strong atmosphere, though I don't find it scary.

Edit: I do concur that stepping on the spiders makes me feel sad, though I had a lot of fun puzzling my way through avoiding stepping on them. There was only one which didn't move out of the way whatsoever which I unfortunately had to step on.

Clunky and annoying, I don't recommend it whatsoever.

I was looking forward to it but it feels absolutely atrocious to play on top of being littered with very obnoxious bugs, like the mouse not being bound to the game window on every tutorial prompt and weird movement collision issues that seem to only appear when fighting enemies that feels like the game is putting an invisible wall in front of you to prevent you from getting close to an enemy.

Easily one of the worst demos I have played despite a solid visual aesthetic.

Edit: Also forgot to mention it, but no key rebinding and the game freezes up permanently when going from tutorial to the demo level, requiring a restart of the game to play the actual level.

Absolutely spectacular. I loved it. The last mission especially is a blast, perfectly reminiscent of Hong Kong action cinema but particularly at its most tactical while still being stylish. Once the core gameplay mechanics clicked, and were a bit more notably pushed by that last mission, it was truly a special experience that captured the kinds of cinematic action I love from Westerns and Hong Kong action cinema (notably reminding me of Tsui Hark, Ringo Lam and Wong Kar-wai).

If I were to give feedback, it'd be to have more mission variety. Not because this is lacking it, but because this has immense potential. Plenty of old action movies have great examples of imaginative scenarios, but the ones I can imagine most fitting this game would be, say, HEAT and Time And Tide.

I think the level select might get old after a while, so maybe having multiple methods to get levels would be nice. As in, some levels are selected differently rather than only via these particular calls. This would add variety and even help contextualization while avoiding the cool stylish method from getting as old as it would if it had to be done on every level no matter what.

I wish the sensitivity slider was wider. I was able to account for it by changing my DPI, but it could be wider so that I didn't have to change my DPI.

And, most importantly, have an option to disable the interlacing effect for people with weak eyes like mine.

Early Access Review
I wish there was a 'mixed' option. I played the game for very little, but the lack of polish (massive performance issues, forced anti-aliasing or DLSS upscaling, constant desyncs even in offline with audio and enemy hit feedback and UI) is sadly pretty intense. It's at a lower level of polish than either Space Hulk Deathwing or Necromunda Hired Gun, or EYE Divine Cybermancy for that matter.

That being said, the game felt good to play in the little I played so far, and the art direction and music are absolutely incredible. I'm sure that if polished it'll be quite a gem.

I really like it, but I must admit that bosses feel like a waste of time compared to the enemy encounters

From what I have played of Routine thus far, it's an incredible, truly immaculate puzzle adventure.

But I do think its stealth horror elements and survival horror influences detract from the experience rather than adding to them, because they're not particularly polished and end up being more of an annoying obstacle in the way of the game's truly great elements, which are its world interaction, exploration and puzzle-solving.

For all the dev time, I wish what had more attention was that stealth horror and enemies. It's not very difficult and eventually, with so many enemies to deal with constantly interrupting the puzzle-solving, it results in a loss of tension. This is Routine's biggest issue to me. Its horror is quite easy and simple to deal with, with resources everywhere and saving being easy. But the enemies constantly interrupt, and thus heavily extend and pad out, the puzzle-solving in many areas in the game.

The areas which keep them more sparse generate a lot more tension out of me, and those are the highlights in terms of combining stealth horror and puzzle-solving. Those areas, like the early mall, are really good at that.

Beyond that, I'm really happy with Routine's atmosphere and music. I hear the game gets more surreal, so I'll keep going at it, and figure out its delightfully cryptic narrative.

Extremely difficult but honestly one of the most relaxing platformers to play to me. I wish people didn't consider it outdated, because it's absolutely not and it's a largely extremely well-designed platformer, one that I vastly prefer to most modern precision platformers.

A fantastic small campaign that very much stands on the shoulders of many great FPS campaigns, highly recommended if you like the kind of design of Crysis 2 and 3, but wished the games were better.

I felt like my brain was being sucked out of my head as I played this

I do not recommend playing this if you actually care about yourself. This is no different from playing CoD.
