This game's concept is AMAZING, still needs some polish but by ♥♥♥♥ this is the most fun I've had with an Early Access Mercantile game in a looooooooong time.

Keep it up, devs; with the promise this shows I'd be down to buy DLC expansions for new maps and player scavenging expeditions.

TU4 fixed some optimization issues; could have used that at LAUNCH.

Gog fight freezes and requires an Alt-F4 or strait up crashes the PC every 3/4 attempts, locking me out of basically ever improving weapons more.

We expect better out of you, Capcom.

Alright, 33 more hours into the game 5 months later, after some optimization patches have come through.

The game is definitely more optimized than it was previously, however it appears it only made it so that the crashes stopped while still at the lowest graphics settings AND the unfortunate constant with UE5: turning off autosave. Not having a reliable autosave on a survival-craft game is pretty brutal if you're climbing/scrapping some of the larger POIs.

Other issues include:
- flickering lights,
- bugged cables on respawn (specifically ones attached to holstered weapons and backpacks locking into the middle of the air where you load into the game),
- and the edge of the boat getting tripped up under dock platforms when moored to them.

Honestly even if you disregard all the bugs mentioned in the last paragraph, I still cannot suggest buying this at $35 while a system that can run games such as Satisfactory, GW2, and Doom Eternal at Medium-High graphics and getting 50+ FPS, struggles to even get 30+ FPS at the lowest graphics on a mostly empty map, along with the crippling autosave issue.

Old review:
Love the concept, play, and progression. Hate that it's another UE5 slog of "has this been optimized or not?" For $35 you'd think there's been some optimization, but even doing the usual cutbacks to stem crashes (dropping graphics to the lowest, turning off auto-save, etc) the game has a record-breaking crash time of 15-30 minutes. If you've got cash to burn and want to assist the devs by sending your crash data in the hopes they put optimization at the top of the workflow? Knock yourself out. Otherwise, save your cash; an unoptimized UE5 game that crashes 3-4 times in a 2 hours play session isn't worth $35, worse if you go past the refund time limit as I have.
