pleasantly surprised, quite an immersive game. the music in the non-horror sections really sells the experience. it makes everything feel so bittersweet, like you never want to leave this beautiful, safe, simple little home, but you know you have to. the way we see the house at different times in the day, with beautiful morning or evening lighting, it beckons you to stay forever (even more effectively than the crazy video game girls do)

ENDING SPOILERS:
i wish we got good endings for the non-crazy girls. i wish a "good" ending existed at all. never getting to see mila again, leaving tiny mita behind, kind mita having her memories wiped (though it is a good scene), all of it is just sad. i dont want to spend the rest of my life in peaceful mode with crazy mita, i want to make every OTHER mita happy! why does the game assume that the only mita i would care about is the one that has been trying to kill me the whole time? i can understand having the first playthrough be a bad ending, but let me replay the game to save everybody

fun way to spend 2 dollars and an hour of your time. if you dont think you could be satisfied with anything less than the true ending or even 100% completion, maybe do yourself a favor and dont play this game. i got one ending, and im happy with that. maybe ill revisit the game in the future

i wish i could mark a review as "informative", but ill go with a recommendation. however, i have not great eyesight, and combined with adhd, games can sometimes "lose me" visually if they require too much active focus for me to be able to understand whats going on. and this game definitely does. the visual clarity/contrast between enemies vs the environment vs objectives is not high enough for me. the game kinda feels like a sludge of glittery visuals, and its hard for me to pick out important information at a glance, which means i have to play slower to understand whats going on. to be clear, lots of particles and bright colors are fine. but the things that are supposed to stick out just dont, for me at least. the enemies might as well be completely camouflaged - im just shooting at the stars that the HUD places over them. i feel like the stars were added because the dev realized this was a problem, but imo its a suboptimal solution

also, the cursor is tiny at 4k

i would love to see some more polish in the final release, that makes it more accessible and easier to follow along with. maybe less busy environments, bigger/more contrasty enemy designs, etc

but, based on the rest of the reviews, this isnt a problem most people face. so, if the aesthetic of the game intrigues you, i would totally recommend trying out the demo. the music is also really fun. just not the game for me, it seems

i wanted to like it but, as it stands, i cant justify spending time on this over any of the other games in my backlog. it really did not leave an impression. i kept waiting for it to do anything to break up its own monotony, but after dashing through the fiftieth room, i decided to give up. plus, the gun feels bad, and dashing is awkward. im glad people like it though, i can definitely see the potential and i wish the devs nothing but success. its just not for me. i understand that the story is sparse on purpose, but that only works if the game successfully intrigues you into wanting to uncover more of the story, and i did not feel the least bit intrigued. the whole game just felt vague

if youre interested in the game, i certainly recommend trying it out. im glad i tried it out. theres a good chance it will click with you, it just didnt with me

literal peak.

okay on a more serious note. i got 2 days advanced access, not because im that impatient but just because i want to support the devs. doom eternal is my second favorite game of all time so i was super excited for this. and i know some people have been having issues getting in, problems with drivers and crashes etc. but personally my experience has been very smooth, it took about 5-10 minutes for the game to show as playable in steam after it was supposed to drop, but afterwards i have had 0 troubles

im running in 4k on a 4090 with DLSS quality and frame gen. im getting around 150-180 fps. i also increased texture pool to max, i think doubling it from the default. every other setting is on ultra nightmare as well. so i am more than happy with the performance, especially considering how jaw-droppingly beautiful this game is. i think when i disabled frame gen my fps dropped to around 100-130? something like that. and there are no artifacts from it that i can notice so i decided to just leave it on. anyway, if youre not playing at 4k, and youre willing to lower your settings a bit and keep DLSS on, then you really shouldnt need a crazy GPU to run this game at high fps

as far as the main content of the game? i have beaten the first 3 chapters and im absolutely loving it. is it as fast as doom eternal? no, but its so cinematic, so beautiful, and still REALLY fun. combat is no longer fast paced and vertical, but it is precise and intense in a very unique way. the sheer spectacle is what really sells the game though, theyve crafted such an amazing world and an amazing vibe. the part where you are gunning down a titan with a turret as it walks towards you, the atlan sections. im having a blast. its not gonna replace doom eternal for me, surely not - that is still the best combat that an FPS has ever had. but this game is, so far at least, an absolutely wonderful experience, and its definitely a better early game than doom eternal, way more cool stuff going on, and i dont feel so weak. it makes me so excited to find out where the game will go from here

but yes, i would 100% recommend this game, as long as you come in with an open mind and understand what the game is trying to accomplish (ie, not being a repeat of doom eternal). just let yourself have fun and enjoy the experience and spectacle

it's a wonderful game. i played it many years ago, maybe 2019, a pirated copy. before then i watched many youtubers play it as a kid - markiplier, jacksepticeye, dashie. returning to it now, its still great. the characters are so nice to get to know, the gameplay is so fun. the music is strangely unforgettable. its far more than just a porn game. it feels funny to say, but the game truly is a classic and is genuinely close to my heart

unfortunately, the game is a bit weird in terms of window size. i have a 4k screen and fullscreen doesnt make the game take up my full screen, just surrounds the small window in darkness. but after getting an hd textures mod and setting up borderless windowed to make my own fullscreen mode, its a great experience. if you dont have a 4k screen, or you dont mind playing windowed, then this shouldnt be a problem

Early Access Review
cool game so far, excited to see where they take it in the future updates. hoping to see more of everything - more maps, more elements, more attacks, more bosses. but even in its current state its fun

i will agree with everybody and say that the friendly fire should be configurable/only present in certain special gamemodes. self damage is cool though, having to avoid my own attacks is pretty fun, especially with the upgrades that make them heal you. having to avoid my teammates, however, isnt very fun. its not a huge deal either though
