Classic rpg which was highly underrated due to being rushed and released with tons of bugs and cut content (same happened with VTM: Bloodlines). Just beat it again since 2004, my first playthrough, but this time I used AOR overhaul mod, which I'd highly recommend if thou art willan to embrace the challenge. I really enjoyed the story (especially the twist mid game), but now i realize how unfinished it feels in the final few chapters. The game could benefit from a full scale remake and story expansion, though it would remain a highly niche product for rpg fans because of its linear narrative. Rumor has it that there was a revolutionary multiplayer mode with classes and disciplines not available in SP, but i couldn't try it back then in 2004 (didn't have internet) and couldn't try it now as all servers are long dead.

Reds,
It's very unpleasant feel when your eyes are on the shoulder level of all NPCs. Please let us adjust the camera height. Not meant to be offensive to short people, but literally unplayable

Never played BG1/2, only familiar with D&D system based on original NWN by Bioware (press F).

Overall, I love SP RPG games that offer immersive experience. Among my all time favorites are VTM:Redemption, Neverwiter Nights, the first Witcher (i liked 2nd and 3rd one too, but mainly for quests and storytelling), VTM:Bloodlines, DA:Origins, Fallout: New Vegas (missed 1st and 2nd), Operation Silent Storm (that would be my top fav turn based game), and heavily modded Skyrim.

I purchased BD3 with no particular expectations, especially from EA. So far so good. I'm sure, the game will make it to the above list of my all time fav RPGs.

Here is quick sum up of what I think, and please note, I played BG3 strictly as SP because I'm a rather private individual, and when I play from home and play an RPG, I don't need anyone else there.

Pros:
- Sophisticated gameplay mechanics with wide range of options
- So far intriguing plot
- Maxed out variability in terms of quest choices/consequences
- Simple yet satisfying char creation
- Larian's sense of humor
- Good graphics

Cons:
- Bugs (EA duh)
- Not a fan of the rolling dice system to pass whatever checks in conversations. I'm a perfectionist, to an extent. If I see that I can get a more plausible option, I will reload the game as many times as needed. Playing as a rogue and need to pass 16 Wisdom check? It's easy but frustrating, because I have to reload the game 8 times and try not to smash my keyboard on those 7 failed attempts. I almost did smash my keyboard trying to pass 3 consecutive wisdom checks for one particular book in the game. And I would have done so after finding out the reward... but I drank a cup of lavender tea so everything was ok.

I understand it's a D&D rule, but when it comes to SP adaptation, I'd prefer to see it as a hard requirement so the option should be available either to you or your party member with the needed stat number. Apparently, there should be no randomness with the dice in such the case. Or everything can be left as is, to stay true to D&D mechanics. I'd just need some lavender tea for each game session.
- There are no caravans to rob
