If you do like point and click adventures but want something new with the added - but always optional - beat 'em up addition... if you like well written and likeable characters, great voice overs and a story full of surprises that is far more epic than you'd think at first - look no further because Brok is the game you were looking for. Highly recommended!

Nice point and click with lots of humor and easy to handle gameplay. It has a few action parts but if you dislike them you are allowed to skip them as well. The puzzles are logical but a few times you might get stuck because you simply don't know where you should go. Playing time for me was about 10 hours.

If you like Twin Peaks, Mystery, atmosphere, great soundtrack and a really mind boggling story, this is the game for you. It is one of my all time favorites and I cannot say anything bad about it.

I finished tha game today and yes, it's really not an easy game. In fact it's often quite frustrating and there are too many items in inventory. Sometimes new doors are unlocking without any obvious reason (or sign to the player that they are now open) so you have to search again and again if new areas have opened. You'll also have to read several PC screens and journals to fully understand the story or to even be able to solve the game. So it's frustrating and hard. BUT I still do recommend it because the story behind all the mystery is so complex unexpected and twisted that I know for sure that I won't forget it that fast. Also the graphics are looking nice and they and the soundtrack are really fitting the great atmosphere. So I give this game a "thump up" but be aware of the problems mentioned above before you spend money on it.

This is an adventure game and this is pure art. If there ever was a discussion if video games can be considered to be art this little gem is the answer. It has logical puzzles, intuitive controls and great narrative moments so it is a nice little adventure game with great atmosphere. It also has some special sureal and interesting moments which may even be a bit too much for the mainstream gamer - and these are a pure work of art. I got this game from a giveaway for free and enoyoed nearly every second of it (in the second act there was a timed puzzle which is not exactly my cup of tea) but it is well worth paying a few bucks to for this experience. Absolutely recommended for everybody who wants to enjoy an adventure which is "a bit different".

Ich habe das Spiel für sehr wenig Geld damals über Humblebundle erworben und um ehrlich zu sein, habe ich es nach einigen Minuten erst einmal wieder auf Eis gelegt. War ganz lustig, aber der Funke ist so schnell noch nicht übergesprungen, obwohl die Charaktere sympathisch waren, die Musik mitreissend und der Grafikstil passend. Ich bin aber auch normalerweise eher ein Adventure-Fan, weshalb das kaum verwunderlich ist.

ABER

Nachdem ich das Spiel nun vor ein paar Tagen wieder angefasst hatte, hat mich der Sog dann doch voll erwischt und obwohl ich mit Keyboard und Maus spiele, habe ich das Spiel duchspielen können. Das Spiel verlangt hierbei vom Spieler einiges an Reaktion und Fingerfertigkeit sowie schnelle Reflexe - es übt jedoch auch genau diese, indem der Spieler quasi gezwungen wird, immer wieder über sich hinauszuwachsen und die neuen Moves auch anzuwenden. Für Gelegenheitsspieler in diesem Genre (wie mich) gilt es dennoch, eine gehörige Portion Geduld mitzubringen. Wenn man dann aber auch die schwereren Passagen langsam gemeistert hat, will man immer mehr und versucht, sich immer mehr Herausforderungen zu stellen. Genau dieser Reiz war es, der mich mitgerissen hat. Ich wollte besser werden und ich wollte noch mehr schaffen. Die Story beendet man, wenn man mit den Endgegnern klar kommt, in etwa 6-10 Stunden, aber es gibt noch viel mehr zu tun und das erhöht den Reiz und führt dazu, daß man erneut in die Welt von Guacamelee eintritt.

Guacamelee mag ein kleines Spiel sein, aber wenn man erst einmal dem Reiz des Spieles erlegen ist, ist es ein wahrer Zeitschlucker und es macht extrem süchtig. Die Atmosphäre führt einen geradewegs nach Mexiko, das Kampfsystem ist schnell gelernt aber schwer zu beherrschen, die Aufgaben sind zahlreich und teils extrem komplex. Man bekommt hier also wirklich viel für das Geld, weshalb ich es uneingeschräbkt empfehlen kann für Leute, die genug Zeit und Geduld haben, um es zu spielen.

This game is absolutely awsome! I thought a long time before I bought it and it was (and is) worth every penny. There is not so much of a story in the game so you shouldn't buy it because of a great mystery story or something like that. The artwork however is great and the riddles are clever, challenging and never unfair. You can try a dozen times and if you make a mistake you can rewind (like in prince of persia sot) and try something other. Mostly you can solve the riddles with pure logic - sometimes you will try and error over and over. The game still does not get boring because each riddle is another challenge with other problems. What I really like about the game is that at the firs minute you think "Oh, that is ginna be easy" just to be proven wrong a minute later. The first thing you have to do in each riddle is to figure out the mechanics (like in myst) only then you will have the chance to solve the riddle. It is so much fun and there are so many riddles (I'm still not through with the game after many hours of gameplay) and even the steam challenges are real challenges and (with one exception) solvable with some thinking. You will also fall in love with the beautifully handrawn black and white artwork and the minimalistic but fitting soundtrack. Buy the game if you like riddle games that really are challenging and really give you satisfaction after solving a riddle. The pure "Let's Play" hits on youtube should be proof enough that this game absolutely is worth it!
