This game is magnificent. The writing is simultaneously thought-provoking, hilariously wacky, and often times tackles very deep and dark psychological issues. The art style is subdued yet vivid and detailed - a convincingly realistic alternate world viewed through an ever so slightly cartoonish lens. The music ties into the experience flawlessly, never in your face but always there driving the emotional undercurrent of the various zones you explore and experiences you have.

This isn't a game for squeamish or sensitive folks. There's quite a bit of disturbing body horror and bizzare artwork throughout, and the aforementioned deep psychological issues may hit too close to home for some. It doesn't hold anything back, but it also doesn't glorify violence or make light of the terrible things the characters have been through. In that, it's respectful to the weight and absurdity of living as a human being - a ball of flesh and fluids that can do some cool things and also do some really terrible things.

Do you enjoy psychological storytelling, dark humor, and enjoy reading dialog? A lot of dialog? Like, several novels worth? Don't hesitate, buy this game now. DM me if I've somehow led you wrong.

Do you want an action-packed copoganda thriller in the vein of such media as Die Hard: The Video Game: The Movie? That is not this game. There's a lot a walking and a lot of talking.

You can wear ridiculous sunglasses, a guady track suit, tight-fitting mustard-colored pantaloons, a talking neck-tie, and carry a plastic bag to grab every bottle in sight in the hopes of making a few bucks at the thrift store, spend a large part of the game desperately seeking a way to get up on the karioke stage, kick a mailbox (you betrayer), and solve a murder with actually suprisingly good detective skills. That's the kind of game this is.

If you're cool with investing 4+ hours learning the ropes and enjoy lengthy (often multi-session) games where you carefully manage resources, weigh small options that snowball 200 turns later, and build an empire with many different victory conditions, then you'll love this game.

If you're an impatient gamer (nothing wrong with that), give it a pass and save yourself the headache.
