short horror game, peak fiction.
loved it. would recommend.
if you dont want to buy it, go play the free version on steam then buy the rest.

wonderful symbolism left up to interpretation all while presenting a very interesting surface plot.
really unsettling and grimy horror elements as well as the usual desperation

would highly recommend looking at other similar games on steam if you want the kind of experience worlds adrift gave, because this seems like a strange bloated version of it, despite the potential there for it being good. like its not HORRIBLE but man. man...

devs also will wantonly delete any negative posts, and ban you from discussion if youre frustrated about them abandoning their previous game despite them not updating it or doing anything to help it. (apparently someone got banned for saying something looked like another game inspired by WA? you know you could EXPLAIN?) i got banned for "trolling" because i mentioned that worlds adrift players were abandoned. let me add, PERMANENTLY, like what? just tempban me! jesus christ!

if youre that willing to ban people with a negative opinion, oh brother i can see where things will go if there's any backlash in future updates. hooooo boy. do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ better.

atlas shrimp especially are just found absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nowhere unless you want to refresh one or two spawn spots for an item it barely makes sense for them to drop.
too much bloom and glare effects wise, very clearly needs optimisation.
intro takes AGES to get through to get to the more advertised part of the game.

ironically though, yeah shipbuilding and grappling is fun, but that's just ported from worlds adrift, but shipbuilding is way worse and in that you can accidentally pull too far on a node and get an irreversible weird shape.

i think i can feel a little outer wilds in the exploration aspect? which is neat but i dont really feel as rewarded for finding lore as in that game. like rather than a gradual discovery of oh ♥♥♥♥ who are these people youre told "these are the scrungle scringle civilisation and they are mysterious oOOooOOOO"

some optimisation wouldnt hurt either, maybe it's my device but i get quite a few lag spikes for a game that really doesn't seem so graphically intense. i dont have the BEST graphics card but i am very much able to run similar looking games perfectly well.

also the art style looks a bit... whatever? i dont really care for it at all, the characters look ripped out of some uninspired thing, i like the ruins and such, but i dont really like the terrain at all.

harvesting tool-required resources is tedious too, clunky and inefficient as hell. especially trees. also you can blow up ore deposits and lose everything? why?

i like the movement! i really do! sprinting, fast, gliding is cool, if not very botw/totk, BUT WHY ARE THERE SKILL LEVELS THAT DO NOTHING TO CONTRIBUTE. REMOVE THEM PLEASE.

dying is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CHORE and backtracking through an island sucks like hell, wish there were, say, warp points or something, at least on the starter island.
combat sucks. end of, it feels like its going for a soulslike with guns, but like, the guns dont feel so fun to use, and telegraphs and dodging is, quite frankly, often unresponsive.

goes on sale stupid cheap and is a pretty damn good game.
