game great. you have christmas money, no excuse

gripes: campaign HIGH-ULTRA texture settings use more than 8gb of VRAM (theres no way in hell thats actually the case) and cause stutters/absolutely horrendous performance.

Release it was fun and a new take on shooters, upon years of multiple battle royales this cannot compete its clunky, runs terrible on most hardware, third person peaking is a problem, and gunplay is just meh, lacking pack of punch per say in the way they hit. I can only recommend this game to people who want a mil-sim style battle royale

I must admit, I hated this game at launch because of all the hype around it and I didn't want to give it a chance. A year later I watched Jack play through the Ruins and was sold, I didn't buy the game but pirated it. Upon playing and seeing more of what it had to offer I understood. Holy ♥♥♥♥ Toby this is THE best indie game I have ever seen, heard of, or played period. The mechanics are top notch, the art style while minimalist fits the soundtrack perfectly! I found the fact that Frisk (the player character) is a blank slate allowed me to immerse myself more into the world and monsters I was befriending and talking to. No spoilers here but holy ♥♥♥♥ man this game is a 10/10 no debate it is worth more than what Toby is charging.

I recommend this game for people who want a solid story for once in a open world game. It might be the first open world game that has character and life behind the story and isn't just "go shoot this, take out that outpost for the cult, tribe, etc." Its content and bugs are horrible yes, but if you have somewhat decent hardware to run this game at at least 30 fps i think you should buy it on sale whenever the price drops. I never did the end content cause there isn't really a reason to do so, considering the world is so dead and lacks life. Just for the story alone though and the unique take on gunplay and RPG style perks, its worth a play (I suggest you pirate it, cause i don't blame you for not wanting to pay for this, its not a $60 game.)
Overall 4/10
has good gunplay, story, and characters with the best graphics I've seen
thats about it though

OVERVIEW (~700 hours on battlenet prior to their departure from Activision):
Destiny 2 is a great game, Just not free to play as the game is shown. More than half the content is locked off behind a paywall, there are cosmetics that cost up to $20 just for an emote or an exotic ornament. The substance is here for a great outstanding game it just falls flat in every direction other than raids or season pass content. All of the "DLC" story content is borderline trash and has no effort behind it other than Forsaken. Its hard for me to recommend this game to anyone on my friends list or real life because everything is pay to play. There is nothing free about this except for Crucible, Strikes, and one Raid. Having all items sunset which are items we paid for out of pocket content that should be relevant for seasons to come is downright UNACCEPTABLE, borderline fraud & false advertising to anyone who bought the DLC. I was lucky and got out without paying a single cent other than the base game when it came out, and Shadowkeep (my friends paid for all the other content for me because I refused). I simply cannot recommend buying DLC or playing this game because its a time-sink that has no real gain as proven by sunsetting items people like me grinded our time away for. DO NOT PLAY DESTINY 2 EVER, IT IS ANTI-CONSUMER AND EVERY MENU THEY ARE FINDING A WAY TO TRY TO GET YOU TO BUY SOMETHING. Anyway, that being said, here's the pro's and cons more in depth:

NEGATIVES:
- strikes are boring and very repetitive
- season pass is a pay2win model
- DLC for this game is overpriced for barely 3 hours of content on each DLC (Exception of Forsaken), additionally very little ENDGAME content for $40 a pop
- exotics are not well balanced
- servers tick rate is 10 so crucible is barely playable at times, having shots not hitting & disguised by bullet magnetism
- have to buy all the DLC (~$200 to get the FULL game experience)
- graphics are outdated with textures worse than most indie games, i'm no stickler for them but when your game is ♥♥♥♥ at least have good graphics
- no option to queue for raids if you don't have a squad (this is more of a nitpick)
- bad anti-cheat, hackers infest trials of osiris
- REMOVING MOST PRIOR CONTENT THAT PEOPLE PAID FOR (Raids, Strikes, Campaigns, & Worlds), ARE YOU SMOKING CRACK BUNGIE WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU
- Sunsetting (force locking all prior DLC & base game loot ((that we paid for & grinded hours and hours on end for)) to 1100 power level) all prior loot items (except exotics) making them ineffective in the modern meta of Trials or ANY PVE event
- Anti-Consumer menus, & items that are locked behind a paywall
- Dumb AI, the rumor is true almost all bosses excluding raid bosses have no gimic or strategy or brain, you just shoot and duck behind walls for about 10 minutes to kill a larger version of a fallen Captain or a Taken Knight, etc.
- Re-branding older content and selling it to players as something new or changed, it should be a courtesy to give players raids like VOG that existed in Destiny 1's base game. It's really bad how this content is just being slipped through the cracks and people are okay with that
- 2 YEARS, NO NEW CRUCIBLE MAPS :/
- Generic weapon archetypes
- Gambit, nuff said
- Bungie struggles heavily with balancing weapons & abilities

PROS:
- Outstanding gun-play, pretty hard to compete with Bungie on that
- Abilities are mostly fair & balanced though I don't find myself enjoying them
- Raids are still the seller on this game for me. The bliss I got to experience doing Leviathan for the first time back in the day, the mystery behind each one and mechanics...is unmatched by any other first person game to date
- Art direction is amazing and whoever did all of the back drop paintings needs a raise
- Different enemy types somewhat play different
- Bounties & random things to do to level up your Guardian are more available than ever, there is a lot of ♥♥♥♥ you can multitask doing yet somehow I don't ever feel overwhelmed.
- Crucible maps are well balanced and fun (for the most part)
- Nightfall Strikes are fun and provide a quick easy challenge with a good reward
- Exotic loot pool & the many different perks are all unique and have something to throw on the table if you just wanna mess around and not try too hard in Crucible (Le Monarque lookin at you)
- Exotics aren't sunset :))))
- Free content every season...Only when Bungie feels like not stealing money out of your pocket of course

its okay, i guess. 6/10
if you dont have a 144hz monitor don't bother playing ranked.
operators cost way too much renown pretty much strongholding you into paying money to get the essential operators in the meta.
i recommend playing with a full squad if you do try to enjoy this game, however the occasional solo queue is fun :)
i've been playing this since the closed beta and its definitely still fun, just the amount of reworks and no new maps is flatline unacceptable and has changed my ability to enjoy this game because the maps are all laid out horribly for the year 2+ operators.
community is a cesspool of toxicity even in ranked playlists, its really not worth your time or hard drive space unless you really cannot enjoy faster paced first person shooter games.
i paid $60 for this game on launch and right now its barely worth $20 considering the games state in my opinion.
ADDON:
also, considering the f2p model on a paid full triple A game, its unacceptable to have ops cost so much.
