At this price point I might as well play a physical card game and actually own my cards.

Helldivers 2 Is the worst game ever. Not because it's actually the worst, but because it gives you hope that it COULD be a good game.
Every time I load into a match, it's a coinflip between the easiest mission of my life, or a complete death spiral that genuinely shoots my blood pressure up so high my smartwatch warns me of my health.
Some people might say: "Just get better at the game!" But that's just the thing - it's not about getting better at the game, it's about avoiding every single stupid decision the devs have programmed into it. Here's a few of those gripes now:
- Ragdolling preventing you from taking any action, and enabling enemies to do combos on you, therefore invalidating the use of stims to keep yourself alive and removing player control, therefore leading to frustration. Also, the prevalence of ragdolling. Like every single thing the enemy does ragdolls you. It's not funny the 1000,000th time.
- HD2 is a milsim without the sim. They only just added the weakest weapon customization I've ever seen, and stat pages don't tell you everything about the weapon. Why is durable damage still a hidden stat? What about aim sway? Why do melee weapons have a recoil value?
- HD2 is a horde shooter without the hordes. Did you know that the engine physically cannot handle the sheer number of enemies for it to be considered a "horde" shooter like Space Marine 2? Or that they limit the number of mechs you can bring, not as a balancing lever, but because it'll make you crash? The game does so much to limit the number of spawns that they'll never be able to make the game harder by adding more enemies, only by replacing units with heavy ones. Heavy unit spam makes the game "harder", yes, but so does turning off your PC screen and smashing your GPU with a hammer. Is that fun? Is that balanced?
- Greedy monetisation. Look. I come from Warframe, a game where the devs actually care about the players and don't suck every single cent out of their playerbase. But what does Arrowhead do? First they say that they'll never put stratagems into warbonds (which they did.) Then they start removing content from warbonds and start putting those things into the superstore. And all the while, sycophants sing AH's praises because they can farm super credits by running around a Difficulty 3 mission for 6 hours straight. No dude. They want you pay through the nose for every single update that they do. Do you not see how they keep creating problems with every new update, then sell you the solution in a new warbond? They are snake oil salesmen.
- Balancing. AH doesn't have a dedicated balancing team, which would be fine if the devs actually played their own game. And understood balance in general. See: the sterlizer. The Orbital Precision Strike. The Orbital Railcannon Strike. So many red stratagems, left to rot.
- Bugs that become features that are still bugs. Red stratagems used to stick to the enemy and track them. Now they don't. It's never been fixed and never will be again, nerfing all red stratagems forever. This used to be on their issue tracker, but not anymore. Enemies still walk through walls to get you. Every update, there's a new game-breaking bug that nerfs several weapons and stratagems, or allows people to have infinite ammo or some other broken thing. Stealth is fundamentally broken. Hosts and clients play a different game from each other.

I love imagining that Helldivers 2 will someday be a good game. This truly is my Star Citizen. But Arrowhead will never make this a good game, and perhaps that says something about my relationship with it. The core gameplay is so good that every so often I find myself coming back, and then getting frustrated, and then leaving. Someday, I will drop this game for the last time, and so too will many players.

Get your ♥♥♥♥ together, Arrowhead.

The workshop update gave this game infinite replayability. I mostly just muck around with CPUs - the game is just that fun. 10/10 would recommend.

5-star game. Go into it blind. And check the game files as you're playing. This game is not what it seems to be.
