Zachtronics made great games, this one probably being the best of them all.

Early Access Review
I have spent over 2000 hours and hundreds of dollars in Smite 1 since its beta version. My review of that game was positive, with the following description: "Great idea, awful execution. Still good, tho." Now Smite 1 is dead, so I cannot recommend it anymore. If you want to play Smite, you better play Smite 2.
Smite 2 runs on Unreal Engine 5, a big graphic upgrade from Smite 1, which ran on Unreal Engine 3. But that's where the list of upgrades ends. As for downgrades, Smite 2 is still slowly porting gods from Smite 1, so it has less diversity of characters. It's also slowly porting just a handful of Smite 1's skins, for which you should pay again, so it has less diversity of skins as well.
Everything else is the same:
- Toxic community, even worse than other MOBAs.
- Poor QA and UX, which will be your second most reason to complain after the player base.
- Massive cashgrab-esque business model with 90% of the updates being new cosmetic stuff for you to expensively spend your money on.
- Competitive scenario looks more like a reality show. No incentives for private competitions (like DotA 2 does) or for regional leagues (like League of Legends does). Salaries are paid for their official teams' players to pretend there's a real competitive scenario, while really good players are stuck in ranked games.

Don't waste your time and money.

Cool concept, but extremely buggy and counterintuitive at this point in time. Happy to update my review if the devs fix the game.

Early Access Review
I'm writing this review while the game is still in early access. The story is not yet finished, some characters still don't have models and some mechanics are still to be implemented. Despite that, the amount of effort on quality put into this game is already really something else. The original title is a great game, but this sequel is on another level. How this game entangles different forms of art is truly a masterpiece. The visuals are fantastic, the music is amazing, the characters are represented in a loyal and humorous way whilst also being voice acted flawlessly. All of these things are tightly tied together with great storytelling and super fun gameplay with lots of replayability. I'd really love a multiplayer mode, but I'm very happy with the singleplayer experience and cannot stress enough how I recommend it.

If you like challenging puzzles, turing complete games or programming in assembly language, this game is for you.
It's intriguing how much it can be done with a single command and I'm amazed by the solutions I managed to find.
It's free, so you should definitely try it out. The game is also open source, so you can contribute =)

Overall, I recommend any We Were Here game, as they offer the best asymmetrical cooperative gaming experience you can have.
That said, the rest of this review is a comparison between this and the previous instalments of the series.

The good:
- Best audiovisual quality in the series.
- Longest game in the series.
- Richest backstory in the series.
- The We Were Here formula we love.

The bad:
- The script of the playable story feels not as good as We Were Here Together, the previous instalment of the series.
- Some puzzles (and even the narrative) seems not as asymmetrical as expected from an We Were Here game.
- Constantly regrouping with your partner loses the sentiment of being by yourself and lost. It also leads to poor checkpoints, which affects the replayability negatively. Describing the environment to your partner used to be a big part of the journey, but it's less present in this game.
- The music box puzzle will make you literally sick.
- Sometimes the game controls your camera, which is as annoying as it can be.
- Launch week bugs and performance issues.

- Updated ranking:
- We Were Here Together
- We Were Here Forever
- We Were Here Too
- We Were Here

I don't have words to stress enough how much I hate this game.
This game is brought straight from hell right into your computer. Then, it's all downhill.
You can't work, because you have to play it. But you gotta work, because you have to pay for it.
You can't eat, you can't sleep, you can only play. Although you can't really play it, because you can only die.

YOU DIED
YOU DIED
YOU DIED

That's what the game is all about.
I wish I could write more in depth about the game, but I'm afraid I'm short on time. The game is waiting for me and I can't wait to die a couple more dozens of times.

Awful game, 9/10.
Waste no time, buy this game already. You could be dying over and over again, yet you're reading useless reviews.
Thank me later. Hate me later.
