i basically agree with everything "Veryslightlymad" said: "this might be the most “fool’s gold” game i think i’ve ever played"

the presentation is excellent, the soundtrack goes hard (probably my favorite part), and even though it has gross-out humor, it's still kind of charming, plus there’s a wide range of interesting classes and abilities that make early runs feel varied and a rare genetics system that’s pretty cool.

the real problem is the overwhelming dumpster pile of awful mechanics stacked against you where the game’s only real move is giving enemies more and more turns through some hidden chain ability, and while extra turns are manageable on their own they’re constantly piled on with buffs/debuffs, summons that also get turns, and it turns everything into a dragged-out painful experience that wastes your time - where you either lose outright or win fights you already knew you had locked up five minutes earlier. eventually it just becomes elite enemies acting twice and constantly shutting down your turns until every fight feels annoying as hell instead of satisfying.

wins don’t make me happy, losses don’t inspire new tactics, so instead of that “i was so close” feeling you just end up thinking “god i hated that."

the story progresses exponentially slower as you get further along, and despite all the supposed "randomness" every run starts to feel exactly the same.

if this game had online, multiplayer support for galactic conquest, it would undoubtably be the very best game of all time. BF2 pls have my children
