All around banger of a visual novel. Offers a LOT of replay value with branching paths and multiple outcomes. Constantly receiving updates as well. The art is phenomenal. This is a prime example of how cool the visual novel medium can be.

Even as someone who isn't good at poker, after a few rounds I was instantly hooked. It's such an addictive concept and there's nothing more satisfying than "NUMBERS GO UP!" as a game mechanic. Tons of unlockables, challenges, and new content to see that this will easily eat up hours of your life and then some. Seems like the ideal game to have on a Steam Deck (or mobile phone.)

While a fun early access game it has a lot holding it back. I find myself very frustrated with the "set in stone" map. Feels as if that will get old quick, especially if you were to replay the game. I find the in-game tutorials too far spread out for how quickly you start going through the mechanics, by the time the game tries to teach you something you've already figured it out on your own. It's unsure if it wants to be "on rails" or "open world".

I've been playing Overwatch 1 since launch, practically daily for a few hours each night. I have something like 1000+ hours in this game. I was there for the great content drought of 2019 - 2022 and the painful double shield metas and 2CP steamrolls, it was not pretty. Is Overwatch 2 the same game as Overwatch 1? Absolutely not. Overwatch 2 launched and from a gameplay perspective is arguably, especially as of Season 6, a really fun game with a ton of new characters, new maps, new gameplay modes, and a brand new character progression system to flex your dedication (similar to the old level system in OW1.) I've had more fun with Overwatch 2 than I had through the last few years of Overwatch 1's lifespan, 100%. Even the toxicity has gone WAY down, the report, block, mute, and avoid systems all doing a great job to help curate your social experience (including just leaving the voice and text chats entirely.) Alongside being able to reward positive accolades for good behavior to players, the community experience is drastically different from how it was during launch (that being said, you can't patch out toxic people. Every multiplayer game is going to have jerks.)

It's not all sunshine and rainbows though. The shop is still overpriced and the game keeps its purse strings tightened when it comes to to earning "real money currency" by playing the game. If you've been earning coins (for completing weekly challenges) since day 1 you probably have been able to afford at least 2 Legendary skins (or a few battle passes) if you're lucky. New characters have to be earned via gameplay (or purchasing a battlepass), thankfully with the Tank and Support rosters growing you'll have plenty of alternative "counter picks" to choose from. People have complained that Overwatch 2 has been turned into a "grind", but I think it has ALWAYS been a grind. Nothing has really changed, you earn most of the rewards and battle-pass XP from playing the game naturally the same you would have in Overwatch 1 to unlock a Lootbox. Although they do encourage you to try new characters and playstyles, as well as reward you for learning how new abilities/changes to characters work, nothing feels oppressively grindy if you're a daily (or even every couple days) player.

Some things, particularly the new PvE mode, can't be earned via gameplay though and must be purchased separately with REAL money (not in-game coins.) It's not completely unexpected, we were all planning to shell out $60+ bucks on OW2 in it's "original state" back when it was announced in 2019. Still a tad annoying, especially since it's bundled with coins to seem like a "deal" (a problem with a lot of the bundles when you're just interested in individual items.) In fairness, the game does give us plenty of opportunity to earn free stuff via watching Twitch streamers, Overwatch League matches, or participating in events (of which there are multiple each season.)

Ultimately, I think the Overwatch 2 experience is more rewarding for new players than seasoned players, as far as rewards go. The addition of "basic currency/credits" to unlock all the Overwatch 1 and starter gear for new characters has gone a long way towards giving new players something to earn. I think the "free battlepass" rewards are slim pickings by comparison to Overwatch 1's lootboxes. It was not uncommon for daily players to earn every single lootbox item and to use their in-game credits (not real money) to purchase anything the RNG didn't happen to give them.

That being said, the reason I'm recommending this game is because almost all of these cons I'm listing pretty much have zero impact on the actual gameplay (outside of the paid PvE and having to unlock characters.) It's a F2P game, and so spending SOME money (like to unlock a new character or get PvE) isn't too out of the ordinary, just spend your money (real and in-game premium currency) wisely and avoid wasting it on cosmetics. There's plenty of fun game to be had here hidden behind a greedy in-game shop. In my opinion Overwatch 2 will only continue to improve as time goes on, each new season has added something fun or refreshing to the game.

UPDATE: The game continues to improve all these months later. There's legitimately no reason to hate on this game an entire year later.

Just a really fun game that has a fantastic gameplay loop. Pumps out content now on a semi-regular basis with plenty to earn and plenty of opportunities for lapsed players to also earn things they missed out on. Zero "paid content" that isn't just silly skins to help fund the dev team's labor of love. Great to play with friends! For Rock and Stone!

Early Access Review
Overall a fun game, but don't expect to keep yourself entertained for long due the increasingly long development time any and all patches come out. I realize it's a very small dev tv working on this who didn't expect it to blow up when it did, but there's only so many times I can go through the same biome progression. I'm sure this will be a MUCH better game once it's finally out of early access.

Do you like Point & Click Adventures? If so, chances are you've played other games by Wadjet Eye Games (and if you haven't, you absolutely should!) Do you like Bioware games? Well, perfect, because this is basically a Bioware game meets Point & Click Adventure. It has a heavy focus on narrative and story, and doesn't spend a lot of time trying to get you to figure out how to make and use a rubber chicken with a pully in the middle. It's very much a streamlined experience. Takes roughly 9 - 10 hours to complete with a ton of replay value (multiple character origins and different party members on different cases create new solutions and outcomes.)

A bit of a learning curve and a pseudo-open world environment this plays a lot like a horror filled version of a Metroidvania, where you're rewarded for your puzzle solving, stealth, and dodging skills. The game definitely gives off some David Lynch vibes here and there and has a cool aesthetic with a fantastic soundtrack by Garoad.

UPDATE: It also comes with some additional content now, so even more bang for your buck!

I wasn't sure what to expect, and it's been a while since I've played it but it was a very supportive and amazing experience. I could be vulnerable with complete strangers and I was met with kindness instead of toxicity. I can only hope that vibe (and the community) has continued to remain.

This is a pretty solid title. It wasn't EXACTLY what I expected (I would've been fine just cleaning floors and such with minimal story) but the story itself was very solid. Evoked similar feelings to that of Gone Home, where you sort of just watch a family drama unfold by exploring the environment and cleaning a home.
