No, it's not as difficult as Part One. I'm a little disappointed about that, but I can also understand the advantages of it being that way. Still, make no mistake: it's NOT easy. This DLC stands on its own as a fun experience that DOES have its challenging moments.

Bottom line is: If you love DOOM Eternal, you will no doubt have a blast with this second DLC. So I heartily recommend it - even if it's not my FAVORITE Eternal content to date.

Some specific thoughts:
- The hammer is SUPER fun to use, even if it's overpowered.
- Meathook grapple platforming is AWESOME but should have been used more.
- The new enemy types are interesting additions, even if design-wise they're all basically reskins of enemies from the base game.

Take the hardest level in DOOM Eternal and turn it up several notches. That's every battle in The Ancient Gods, and I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love it. Ideally, you'd play this after getting some practice in on the hardest parts of the base game, because it requires complete familiarity of the combat loop.

Once you get into it, it's a relentless sequence of combat encounters, situated in beautiful environments with great level design. And every encounter is fresh; not a single battle or arena feels like it was ripped from the base game. Without spoiling anything, there is no shortage of novel situations that will challenge you in unique ways.

The Ancient Gods makes DOOM Eternal look like DOOM: Tutorial. And I am addicted to it.

Intense and engaging with a perfectly designed combat loop that's straight-up addictive.
The movement system is extremely powerful, and once you master the meat hook you'll be launching yourself around arenas with massive speed and agility.
Weapon balancing is a huge step up from 2016. Every single weapon and mod is powerful in some way, but none of them are overpowered.
id have also mastered the feel of the weapons. Every shot you fire carries weight, and every shot that connects with demon flesh feels incredibly satisfying.
Each enemy is thoughtfully designed, with unique weaknesses that you can exploit in combat, so long as you spare a moment to learn about them from the codex.
The game runs smooth as butter, and is visually stunning to boot.

Without a doubt, this is my favorite FPS of all time. I can't stop replaying it.

Did I mention it's hilarious, too? "YoU cAn'T jUsT sHoOt a hOlE iNtO ThE sUrFaCe oF mArS"

-A really unique visual style
-Highly detailed and aesthetic environments
-An intriguing story with tons of lore that's heavily inspired by SCP
-Solid combat with a good amount of variety

One of the coolest games I've played.
