Link to the Past + Bloodborne + Red Dead Redemption 2 = Tombwater. Highly recommended. The only downsides are the controls take some getting used to and the map is atrocious, practically worthless.

Imagine a game like Lethal Company, but instead of traveling to different planets you walk through the identical corridors of a space station that is random, but it doesn't matter because everything looks the same anyway. Rather than being lulled into a sense of false security before getting jumped by terrifying entities, instead you are just constantly assaulted by roombas that you can't seem to stop or dodge, whittling away at your health. Occasionally a mannequin robot will slowly chase after you, far too slowly to catch you. Instead you will die either to roombas or lack of oxygen while you try to figure out how to turn in the power cells you are supposed to pick up. If that sounds like your idea of a good time, Superalignment is the game for you!

This game is great and it deserves a lot more love. If you like cosmic horror, puzzles, non-linear gameplay and 32bit pixel art you owe it to yourself to pick this up.

I've only beaten the first wing of the academy so far, but I am enjoying the hell out of this game so far. The controls can be... temperamental, which is annoying as ♥♥♥♥ especially in some of the platform challenge rooms, but you can burn credits to heal at any point (as long as you have the time) so it's not as big of a pain in the ass as it could be. The art is good, and the music is beautiful, and there are many waifus to admire (Rei is best girl) - and the story is intriguing, doing a great job of building the world while keeping you in the dark.

The trailer looked incredibly lazy to me, so I bought it thinking I could laugh at a crappy game with my friends. But it almost instantly hooked me . This game is gross and stupid and ugly and lazy, and I love it to pieces.

Dear Japanese devs. Please stop letting Westerners touch your games.

This game is fantastic. The gameplay is a gacha take on Slay the Spire, where instead of gaining variety through the deck you gain variety by synergising different characters. This has a detrimental effect overall on the StS formula, although it's definitely not as demoralising when you ♥♥♥♥ up, since you don't have to spend 45 minutes+ per run.

Morimens has one thing that sets it far above Slay the Spire however - everything aside from gameplay. It's set in a doomed lovecraftian universe where even the happy endings are miserable and the art does an excellent job of conveying that (if you don't mind anime). The music is absolutely gorgeous (The reason I have 35 hours in this game is because I have been leaving it running while I do other stuff just to have the soundtrack playing) and the story manages to show through with moments of brilliance even though all the english text is BADLY translated by ai. So badly translated I'm still not sure whether Jenkin(s) is a boy or a girl. Pretty sure she's a girl. But not certain. And yet I still felt fear for William, my heart still broke for Aegis and 24. I hope they get a decent translation for it though, for people less willing to put up with machine insanity.

A 'cute as hell' little adventure game with a surprising amount of depth, doing that post post modern thing where it dances between cute and dark, playing both off each other. If you are like me, the fact it was originally a mobile game might put you off - don't let it, Afterplace has none of the lazy hallmarks of mobile gaming, and uses its minimalist aesthetic to great advantage - it's a little confusing at first, but you'll pick up the rhythm in no time. Having played it now if I went back in time I would have happily purchased it for full price - on special like it is now it is an absolute no brainer.

You remember those parts in Aeterna Noctis where you'd have to navigate entire gauntlets with pixel perfect precision or start over? Well that's this entire game, except here you get thrown back to ten minutes ago and you also have to fight the annoying controls that do ♥♥♥♥ like randomly cancelling your momentum when you attack. To slide you have to dash and then hit down - not at the same time - and you can't do it unless you have enough space. The music and art are fantastic, and the storyline seems interesting, but I would literally rather punch myself in the ♥♥♥♥ than play this again.

This game is outstanding, but it has one of the worst and most confusing intros I have ever seen. The first hour of the game is basically a prologue introducing you to the bizarre world of The Longest Night - an intricate blend of Slavic myth, Christian theology and Lovecraftian horror by way of Taiwan. Falling heavily in the action-rpg square of the Metroidavania axis, you'll have to talk to villagers to get quests, puzzle out some cryptic clues and make decisions that have huge effects on the story and progression - including making difficult trade offs with no good solutions and where someone will suffer no matter what you do (well placed in an eldritch universe where most people die in horror and misery).

An hour long prologue probably seems excessive, but another cool thing about Vigil is that it is proper old school metroidvania length. You're looking at 12 hours plus to finish the game, and well in excess of 24 if you want to 100% it. There are entire areas you won't even know exist if you don't go exploring, and the unique setting and combat make exploration continuously feel worthwhile.

The combat follows the Soulsborne variety, and there are items in the game which allow you to tilt it further in the souls or the borne direction - imo the game is meant to be played borne style though, with decisive aggression. This isn't apparent when you first start playing because until you are used to its odd rhythm the combat feels like a slowmo or semi-detached button masher, but the last boss of the prologue basically forces you to learn the combat flow. The enemies vary from forest creatures and bandits through mythical beasts and the undead and on to mutilated flesh experiments, cosmic horrors and even deities.

Lastly I want to mention the music, which is beautiful and brilliant at setting the mood of mingled awe and despair befitting a story where even the secret best ending is a nightmare. If you like cosmic horror or massive metroidvanias, Vigil is well worth a purchase.
