I picked up this game as soon as it came out and played the heck out of it for a couple days straight. I love empty open worlds with lots of lore (and animals), so it’s been great fun for me (aside from the bad lag with cut scenes, which I guess has since been patched).

Unfortunately I had a long period of time where I didn’t play video games, and have finally come back to play this game more (and hopefully finish it). For whatever reason, it’s become completely unplayable. Combat (especially big, fun fights) lag me out until I die. There’s really bad controller input lag. And the graphics on screen are loading actively in front of me, rather than the assets already being loaded when I joined the game.

I’m playing on the same computer and 4k monitor I was playing on when I first started with recommended settings. I’ve tried dropping all my settings to the lowest options with no improvement.

And the longer I’ve played the game, the worse it gets. At this point, I really can’t progress at all because the games is SO SLOW to respond.

So I guess I’ll just never get to see the ending, which is honestly a huge bummer to me. When I started playing, I thought this would be a game I would enjoy 100%ing and now that’s out of reach. Don’t set yourself up for sadness.
