It's fantastic as a visual novel. It's well-written, morally challenging and poses questions that you need answered. I'm emotionally invested in the characters after what is effectively a 30 hour prologue. I can't put it down.

As a tower defense game, it is kinda lackluster. ┐('~')┌ But that's probably not why you buy these games.

There was a boss fight I redid six times, using the battle rewind function, just because it was fun to beat.

personally, probably the most compelling main story quest from a Bethesda game ever. first time I've finished or even bothered to do the main quest in a Bethesda game.

mechanically the game is a little weak, run and gun game-play doesn't flow as well as other shooters, but still fun. and while it's a lot less buggy than previous games, there are still occasional game-breaking bugs.

If you enjoy spending hundreds of hours of your life making endless minor tweaks to ship designs to try to find the lowest cost design (hours you'll never ever get back, mind you), so that you can slowly climb up the daily leaderboard, this game might be for you.

Also the main game itself is pretty fun and has an cute cast of characters, but I didn't put hundreds of hours into the game for that... The music is pretty great tho.

I don't really play wlw visual novels but i played this one because i'm chinese and i figured i'd be able to empathize with the characters... and, well, the VN hits upon a lot of topics that have been on my mind. my own father passed away not too long ago, and i've been stuck dealing with my mom's views on my sexuality (who like many asian mothers is a tiger mom), including, the shame she carries for me, which i struggle not to take into myself... and i feel like these things come up in the VN in what i felt was a very organic, very touching, very heartfelt way. I'm very glad i played this, because the game certainly spoke to me, and i greatly enjoyed the message it gives.

road-trip conversations about feminism, atheism, communism and anti-fascism; what isn't there to love about this game?

The art and music is great, and the setting+story+music is compelling enough to give me frissons. That said, it's v.short, so pay accordingly.

Started playing this on a long flight (which is probably why the time played isn't showing up correctly) and I was immediately drawn into the story (which coincidentally happened to involve someone travelling and being seperated from their friends by the travel time). I throughly enjoyed the story, and I thought it makes a great companion piece to Read Only Memories, which I'd also recommend as sharing some similar themes, involving the rights and humanity of 'synthetics'.

A bit short for what it cost, but I think it was worth it; and I certainly enjoyed it. Maybe buy this for your next long flight?
