2026 has barely begun and I already feel confident this will be my Game of the Year. As a longtime fan of Edmund McMillen and his work, I think this may be the greatest game of his career.

It's essentially a tactical RPG in the vein of X-COM mixed with the rogue-lite elements of Isaac mixed with life simulation elements and a deep cat breeding system.

The gameplay loop is incredibly addicting and every run feels like a unique adventure. All of the different randomized elements make for some great emergent storytelling moments that can be hilarious, rewarding, or devastating depending on the hand you've been dealt that run

Also the soundtrack by Ridiculon may just be one of the greatest game soundtracks ever made. There are some incredible vocal tracks that span a variety of different genres from rockabilly to big band swing that perfectly compliment the chaotic rubberhose cartoon aesthetics of the game.

It's a game by Edmund, so you can expect the humor of the game to be very edgy and juvenile, but it has a certain irreverant charm that evokes a sense of nostalgia for the 2000s internet and the early days of Newgrounds.

Overall, Edmund and everyone involved have crafted an incredible game that I can see myself putting countless hours into. It just goes to show that even though the state of AAA gaming is more disappointing than it's ever been, indie devs will continue to drive the industry forward and make complete full-featured experiences that are actually worth your money.

This game set out to be a Wario Land-like platformer and accidently ended up being the best 2D Sonic ever made. I've never played a platformer where you're able to movd so fast, and still feel so in control of your character.

Easily one of the greatest indie platformers ever made

It starts out as a cute little game about making cookies to have on in the background and check on periodically while you're doing other things, and then it later becomes a life-ruining obsession where you'll find yourself having it running on your pc at all times while you spend years of your life trying to get all the achievements

10/10 Can't stop thinking about those grandmas

It pains me to write this review, because this game showed such promise. The art, the music, all of the different mystery scenarios are so good. It perfectly encapsulates Junji Ito's brand of horror in video game form. However, despite being out of early access, the game still feels very much unfinished, unbalanced, and lacking the overall polish of a complete product. There's also a lot of features that were promised in future updates but were never delivered on, and the developer seems to have gone completely radio silent for 2 years now.

I'm not going to hold out hope, but part of me is still holding out hope that the devs will one day return with the promised features from years ago. I'd love to be able to change this review to a more positive one.

A fun little retro-style platformer in the vein of SMB2. Lots of deep-cut references to the early seasons of Rugrats that a lot of us that grew up with the show will get a kick out of. I still can't believe that the scary baby from Angelica's nightmare is one of the boss fights.

The HD graphics do a great job replicating the look and feel of the show, while the 8-bit graphics legitimately look like they could've been from a lost Rugrats NES game from back in the day.

That said, I would NOT recommend buying this game at full price. $25 is way too steep for a game that can be beaten to 100% completion in an afternoon. But if you can get it on sale for $10 or less, it's a really fun time for those of us with nostalgia for classic platformers and 90s Nickelodeon.

Revolutionary in the same way that HL1 and Hl2 were at the time of their release. 5 years later still remains the single greatest VR experience on the market. It's not quite the Half Life 3 that fans were hoping for, but it's still an incredible experience in its own right, and it addresses the overarching plot in a way that'll satisfy long-time fans while we wait another 12 years for Half Life 3.

Genuinely some of the greatest art-direction I've ever seen in a video game. Every animated cutscene, background, song, and character design feels so lovingly crafted and really makes you feel fully immersed in this dark fairy tale world. The art-style is absolutely gorgeous and very authentically captures the aesthetics of vintage anime, more-so than any other indie games that have tried to attempt the same vibes.

Aside from a few frustrating puzzles during the night time sections, it's a very solid gameplay experience all the way through. The gameplay mechanics of having to manage hunger, sanity, health, romantic relationships, and suspicion levels among your fellow villagers adds a level of depth that is not typically seen in these RPG Maker style horror games. The various minigames for the different jobs you do for villagers add a nice variety to the gameplay as well.

The story is very engaging and I had a lot of fun replaying to get all the different endings. I would highly reccomend this game to anyone who's a fan of RPG Maker horror games. It's truly an underrated gem, and I'm genuinely surprised that it's not more popular. I'm looking forward to trying AstralShift's other release Pocket Mirror and seeing how the events of this game tie into that story.

9/10

A relic from a time long since past, where EA once produced unique singleplayer experiences that didn't rely on milking players for money after they already paid for the game.

Still one of the most visually appealing first person games ever, with fun and intuitive controls that show how platforming really can work in a first-person perspective when executed well.

As a huge fan of anime OVA trash, boomer shooters, and roguelites, this game is a dream come true.

Definitely one of those games where you'll get into a a flow state that will constantly tickle your dopamine receptors.
