Early Access Review
A generic survival builder with frustrating companion management and near-absolute zero pathing. The game quickly became "Infrastructure Upkeep" than "Legally Distinct Companions with Guns". The dungeons are the worst type of procedurally generated. The bosses are horrendously bullet/ability sponges, it makes The Division 2 bosses look like QTEs. Never mind the oven, this one needs more time building up the proper ingredients.

One of the best first-person shooters of the last few years. Chaotic and visceral, it's the benchmark for every shooter from now on.

To quote Joseph Anderson, "You find and collect things in No Man's Sky, in order to make it easier for you to find and collect things in No Man's Sky."

They give you all these icons on your scanner and Galaxy Map, with zero setup. They give you recipes for items that you have no idea what they're for. They never go through and explain why things have importance. They give you a barebones gameplay loop with zero context and zero motivation.

There are too many good games available on Steam to waste your time on this one.

I've only done one run in the game, but there was nothing compelling me to go another round. The sound assets of your spells, plus how weak the reaction is by the enemies you've hit makes the combat unsatisfying. You can get away with your starting spell acting weak, but none of the upgrades I received made any improvement on how the combat feels.

If I'm going to be fighting for 90% of the time, it better look and sound amazing in order to keep me interested. Otherwise, fighting enemies feels like a slog.

The weapon system is a little lacking from the first Bioshock game, but the atmosphere and story is still top notch.

Fast-paced. Engaging power-ups. Responsive controls. A no-brainer for $3.
