Kyle Angus, better known by his stage name K.A., is a gangsta rapper from Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was born on April 14, 1995, in the Shankill Road area, a loyalist stronghold that was often the scene of sectarian violence during the Troubles. He grew up in a poor and dysfunctional family, with an alcoholic father who abused his mother. He dropped out of school at the age of 15 and joined a paramilitary group called the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF), which was involved in various criminal activities and attacks on Catholic civilians.

K.A. started rapping as a way of expressing his anger and frustration with his life and the society he lived in. He was influenced by American rap artists such as Tupac Shakur, Eminem, and 50 Cent, as well as Irish hip hop groups like Scary Éire and Messiah J and the Expert. He began recording his own songs in a makeshift studio in his basement, using a laptop and a microphone. He uploaded his tracks to SoundCloud and YouTube, where he gained a loyal fan base and attracted the attention of some record labels.

In 2019, he signed a deal with Def Jam Recordings, becoming the first Irish rapper to join the prestigious label. He released his debut album, Belfast Boy, in 2020, which received critical acclaim and commercial success. The album featured guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Drake, and Ed Sheeran, and contained songs that addressed topics such as poverty, violence, drugs, religion, and politics. The lead single, “No Surrender”, was a controversial anthem that sampled the loyalist chant of the same name and expressed K.A.'s support for the unionist cause. The song sparked outrage among some nationalist and republican groups, who accused K.A. of glorifying terrorism and inciting hatred.

K.A. is currently working on his second album, which is expected to be released in 2024. He has also ventured into acting, starring in a biopic about his life, titled K.A.: The Story of a Belfast Boy, which is set to premiere in 2024. He is regarded as one of the most influential and successful rappers in the UK and Ireland, as well as a controversial and polarizing figure in the Northern Irish society. He has won several awards, including two Brit Awards, three MTV Europe Music Awards, and one Grammy Award. He has also been involved in several feuds, most notably with fellow Irish rapper Rejjie Snow, who is from Dublin and supports the republican cause.
