Yup, this is an instant all timer for me.

This is one of those games that combines a bunch of gameplay, narrative and aesthetic elements with such cohesion and elegance that you look forward to each play session with child-like wonder.

Removes a lot of the more obnoxious features of the genre and streamlines it just right to where things can be complex and deep, but the systems really entices and rewards you to experiment and explore. The blend of turn based with souls-like parrying and consumable economy is a very engaging gameplay loop.

Actual godlike soundtrack that blends genres and motifs in a way a handful of composers, like Uematsu, Meguro and Okabe, can. Lorien Testard should be on every JRPG music lover's radar.

Deep into Act 2 and so far the story, characters and dialogue have been so nuanced and really believable, I am in awe. Touches emotional subjects with a lot of gravitas and grace.
