This DLC is amazing, but it is HARD.

I have roughly 600 hours between Sekiro, Bloodborne, DS3, and Elden Ring across multiple platforms. 100%'s in Elden Ring, Sekiro and close to Dark Souls 3.

WARNING: Shadow of the Erdtree is EXTREMELY difficult and is a major step up in difficulty from the base game. I spent a whole day on a single boss and when I finally killed them, I got the same satisfaction as killing any other boss in the base game for the very first time.

The biggest complaint with this DLC is people getting absolutely whooped on, and you're supposed to. As with any DLC in all of the Souls Series, they are ALWAYS a step up in difficulty from the base game. Orphan of Kos in Bloodborne's The Old Hunters, Sister Friede in Dark Souls 3's Ashes of Ariandel and many other undisputed hardest bosses, or top 3's in just the DLCs alone. You will get absolutely wiped in Shadow of the Erdtree, and it should be expected whether this is your first souls game or you're a souls veteran. If you ran through the base game, whether you think it or not, you had to learn boss patterns and "get gud". Well, you'll have to do it all over with all new bosses and areas to "get gud" again.

When you think there cannot be a step up from Elden Ring, here comes Shadow of the Erdtree. With the amazing presentation of distant horizons, to the voice acting of all new characters, brand new weapon classes that spice up build variety and adds a whole new layer to the game, you'll be happy in the end to have played through this DLC. There is a reason Elden Ring's DLC beat out Witcher 3's Blood and Wine for the highest rated DLC of all time and for what Shadow of the Erdtree brings, I believe it is worth every penny.
