Finally a good new katamari game.

Enjoyable visual novel. The visuals are very nice. Good music, good plot.

Surprised how obscure it is so leaving a review to hopefully help it along in the algorithm.

Steam really needs a mixed category. Only reason I'm marking it as "no" is because is someone asked me if I recommended this game to them I would have a hard time giving them a yes. Like if you are bought in enough, by all means play it. It's not bad by any means but it's far from the gameplay highlight of the series.

Everyone blocks too much as everyone knows at this point. I found the minigames to be pretty weak in this one honestly as well. Pool is wonky, so is bowling, so is darts. The club is boring in this one somehow. Fishing is okay but takes a bit too long for some of the fish and the inventory management makes it a lot less fun than it could be. Mahjong is still mahjong at least, hard to get that too wrong. I don't envy anyone going for completion on this game, with you only being able to eat one food at a time at restaurants.

The plot is still a decent time. Has some goofy plot twists but you have to expect that if you have played any of the other games. The substories are also still pretty fun.

If you just kinda plow through it and skip the content that doesn't interest you, it's not a bad time just don't expect anything amazing and certainly don't play this as a first unless you are crazy.

Game is a bit of a relic so know what you are getting into. It's fun and I like the look and theme but my goodness if it isn't finicky. Unemployment at 6%? people will complain they can't find jobs. Place of work is too far from people's houses? They will refuse to work. Places of work too close to where people live? Now the houses are undesirable and people are moving away and your unemployment is going up because you tried to fix the unemployment problem.

Still fun but don't expect a smooth experience if you aren't used to 90s/ early 2000s city builders.

The game balance and difficulty feels like it is missing something.

The biggest and most obvious flaw with the game would be the hit boxes. They feel too large and ill-defined.

I think my other big issue is the difficulty doesn't feel progressive. If I'm progressing through a game like enter the gungeon I feel like I know roughly where I am going to die in a run and try to get past that point each run. In Atomicrops it feels quite random. I can be doing fine on a run until one night were a large amount of enemies spawn and I'm not even able to deal enough damage to kill all of them.

Another smaller negative is probably half of the guns don't feel that fun to me. This is probably more of a personal thing so your mileage may vary.

I wanted to like this game but overall found it a bit lacking. I like the theme, I like the core gameplay loop but overall there are enough downsides to the game I might have gotten my fill after beating year one.

Hard to really recommend this game. I came in hoping to just have a relaxing time and drive some trains around but due to how poorly explained everything is this isn't even possible.

In order to do anything in this game you will pretty much have to google things and look for guides or youtube videos and even then you may not find they answer you are looking for. For example on the London line after going enough stations I run out of brake pressure and can no longer move. How do you recharge the breaks? No idea the game never bothered to tell me this basic feature of operating the train. A game with so many control really needs to put more work in onboarding the player.

I'm sure there is a player that this game would be good for but until things are more clearly explained in game I can't really recommend it to any new players.

pretty much just stolen music. So if paying to listen to stolen music is your jam enjoy but not a big fan myself.

The UI become unusable when you maximize the window. So ethier play in a small window or remember to make the window smaller before to you need to click certain UI elements.
