Simultaneously the worst game ever made and the most fun i've ever had on my computer 10/0

combat was great, i don't know why people seem to have such a problem with it. if it's because you're playing k&m the game tells you to use controller (are any silent hill games good on keyboard??)
"wannabe soulslike" when it really just adds one mechanic so every enemy isn't just hit-dodge-hit-dodge-hit-dodge-dead....... the fighting also only gets better as you progress so it does not get stale
the traditional style of the music and visuals beautifully complements the storytelling, addressing Japan's deeply ingrained social and patriarchal problems in a very compelling way. it makes it feel like a much more personal and passionate game to the developers imo. it's half the length of sh2 but feels just as long with how compact it is while still staying just faithful enough to the silent hill vibe. Some of the puzzles sucked ass but i would say this is pretty faithful too

one of the most popular negative reviews states this: "I’m forcing myself to play it and asking, 'What am I even doing?' My character’s hand turns into some wolf/fox/whatever-the-♥♥♥♥ anime mutation and the game expects me to nod like this belongs in Silent Hill. It doesn’t. There’s no fog logic, no Otherworld rules, no grounded psychological symbolism. It’s Japanese folklore body horror stitched onto a Silent Hill logo."
Are we talking about the same game? This user also claims "Not AI. Just someone who can write." I can tell. Even AI would come up with a more correct evaluation. But, if you claim you can write and are intelligent to a degree, then i am forced to believe this argument is in bad faith.
Claiming any silent hill game has "grounded psychological symbolism" is absolutely insane. Psychological symbolism yes, but grounded? What about Pyramid head's existence is grounded? The entire foundation of the franchise is absurdity, with LYNCH, arguably the most prominent surrealist artist ever being a major influence.
Don't get me wrong, you can dislike this game. I had my qualms with it that may have irritated others enough to leave a negative review, which I understand. But arguments like these really only point towards underlying misogyny and racism. Wow a game about Japan integrates themes of Japanese folklore? This Japanese girl grew an arm symbolizing something I don't understand -- What a stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Anime trope am i right??

The Gaming community sucks. This game deserves better

everything in this game is perfect except maybe the dumb little war chibi battles that are insanely hard for no reason. also a bit confusing with some ♥♥♥♥- i played for 40 hours and just found out there was a skill tree, but still one of my favorite games.
